D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

You are correct - two goalies must be dressed. NCAA is only good at making rules, not enforcing them. For instance, there is an NCAA rule that all players in the bench area must wear a helmet otherwise it's a bench minor. There is a NESCAC team that consistently breaks this rule and no penalty has ever been assessed. And this particular rule directly relates to the safety of the players.

Is it the "extenuating" or the "circumstances" part that we aren't understanding here? two goalies must be on the roster and dressed as long as neither of those two 11-letter or 13-letter words are part of the equation. If they are, there is no punishment. How can we fault the NCAA for not making a team forfeit if two of the three goalies their roster are not able to dress? Force one of your D or forwards to dress in goalie equipment so there's someone else on the bench to open the door? I'm pretty confused as to why we are all complaining about this when there is a clear stipulation. GoJackets -- help me out. It appears as though you have comprehension of the english language.

Note: A team must travel to an away game with a minimum of two goalkeepers on the roster. If one of the goalkeepers sustains an incapacitating injury or, because of extenuating circumstances, is not able to suit up, a forfeiture penalty shall not be called. Officials are instructed to play the game and report it to the rules committee and appropriate conference, if applicable.

I would assume that if a goaltender travled with the team, was o nthe roster but was not able to dress due to injury...aka extenuating circumstances...that there would be no forfeiture required. Thats the way I read it. The goaltender decided she didn't want to be on the team anymore as the bus was loading friday morning...extenuating circumstances...she had diarrhea..extenuating circumstance....it really could be anything

I only see two goalies on Chathams roster all year long...interestingly bren scott started like the first 8, Allie Frank the next 7 or 8 and then a couple weeks ago it went back to scott...did frank get injured there?

The AHCA could have taken it further in their by-laws...saying that u must have two goaltenders...requiring teams to travel with 3 but probably dress 2, but thats not what I get from the NCAA rule

This week will decided who is going to host the ECAC East conference finals. With Norwich a point ahead of Salve and M'Ville a point ahead of Norwich.
Has anyone noticed how Umass boston has slowly creeped back up to the top tier. I predict they pull off the upset of the year and take the ECAC east.

What about Umass boston

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

Like my hero Maxwell Smart always said "Missed it by that Much" I see the Devils going all the way now and hoisting the cup. You heard it hear first....

I believe the NJD's gave up too much for a rest of the season "rent-a-player" (refer to Ryan Smith and the NY Islanders a few years ago). I think Washington might have something to say about who will win the cup (I wonder if Obama will don a Caps jersey and cap and attend one of the stanley cup final games?). If last Wednesday's game is any indication, Wash vs NYR will be one heck of a playoff series, provided the Rangers make it in as the 8th seed.

You have a very good point here. UMassB has a pretty tough team there and has improved steadily through the season. They could be this years "spoiler" especially if not taken seriously.

They looked pretty good in the Codfish Bowl. It would be nice to see some different teams really in contention for their conference title, so I wish them well.

Did you miss last year's first round?

Those two teams played each other last year in the first round as well and yes it was one heck of a series.

The Rangers had the Caps on the ropes up 3-1, but just couldnt quite throw the knockout punch.

Salve, may not be quite on the same level as UMass-Boston but I could see them playing spoiler as well if Manhattanville or Norwich overlooked them.

Re: D3 Game Updates 2009-2010

What has been overlooked is how much improved the ECAC East is now. They have 6-7 good (Not great)teams. Plus you throw in Mville and Norwich who can beat anyone on any given night and you have a much improved conference. Its deeper than people give it credit for. Although the bottom is still bad...But so is bottom Nescac and ECAC west.

Due to "Snowmaggedon" as predicted by Fox News and Revelations 1:20-30"
Neumann has canceled their two home games against Potsdam.

I think they broke their plastic shovels.;)

to Potsdam, that's just a flurry

Any word on a possible make-up date(s) because these two games are crucial to both teams. Especially Potsdam who has a good shot at claiming the sixth and final ECAC West playoff spot this year now that Buffalo State is out of the running.

In the NHL, (unlike NCAA DIII), the west is just too strong...look for Chicago, San Jose, or even my Red Wings to hoist the Cup this Summer. You heard it here second. ;)

Not sure why everyone is pronouncing Mandy Mackrell's name wrong in both announcements and on wiry. I was told is was MACKrell (like the fish) and not macKRELL.....
