D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Selander stops 41 shots today for another shutout and RPI edges Brown 1-0.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

With BU tying Merrimack that should put BC in an at-large tournament spot for the first time in like 2 months

In other news, Quinnipiac just beat Duluth 2-1 on the road to earn a weekend split.

Union leads Colgate 1-0 after one.
Clarkson leads Princeton 2-1 after one.
Ohio State leads St. Cloud State 1-0 after one.

I’m not sure if the score for the Union Colagate game is correct. When you open up the box score, it has Yale’s and Dartmouth’s line up instead of Union’s and Colgate’s player names.

College Hockey Stats now showing Colgate with a 4-2 lead halfway through the 3rd.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

There was an interesting bit in the Wisconsin-Bemidji game today.

With Wisconsin leading 3-0 in the middle of the third period - 10:34 remaining - Bemidji was about to start 39 seconds on a 5-on-3 advantage. So Bemidji coach Jim Scanlon decided to roll the dice, and turn a 5-on-3 into a 6-on-3, by pulling his goalie (!).

The thinking had to be 'score during the two/three man advantage, then convert during the normal 5-on-4, and we're right back in the game'.

It didn't work. Within the first 20 seconds or so, Wisconsin got a zone clear that happened to be on net, and the game was 4-0.

Gutsy move, understandable decision. But still ...

Clarkson hands Princeton it's first ECAC loss of the year 3-1.
Gabel on the weekend had 5 goals and 1 assist in the 3-2 and 3-1 wins
Sauve saved 69 of 72 SOG on the weekend.

I think it's the right move, though. BSU is far more likely to lose because it can't score three times in half a period than having it lose 4-3 because it gave up that EN goal. If the Beavers don't score on that 5-on-3 PP, they aren't winning anyway.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Just getting home from an awful commute...I see NU and BU are tied and went into overtime but it looks like BU wins the shootout? Is this correct?

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

It took 19 shots but persistence pays off for bc...They lead Harvard after 1 period 1-0.
Harvard had chances, but they weren't quite good enough to capitalize on them. BC should pull away.

Should but not so far...1-1 later in the second period. Shots are 33-10 for bc...

Rut row... Harvard just gets the go ahead goal! 2-1 Harvard on their 11th shot.

If bc had a good PP...they would be dangerous.

bc did not get goal no 2 on their 38th shot so the period ends with Harvard up 2-1...

Shots are 38 to 12 in favor of bc with Reed having a save percentage of .974...

They should make Keller a forward. Reminds me of Ruggiero, always getting caught up ice, and her absence created a nice vacancy in front of the BC net for the go-ahead goal.
