D-III Women's Bracketology

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

Plattsburgh CARDINALS
SUNYAC Champ x21: 78, 79, 82, 83, 85, 87, 88, 90, 92, 93, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 04, 08, 09, 11, 12
ECACW Champ x8: 81, 82, 87, 92, 06, 07, 13, 14
DIII Champ x5: 87*, 92, 01, 07, 08, 14
DIII Runner-up x3: 86*, 90, 06, 08
DII Runner-up x2: 81, 82

Elmira SOARING EAGLES
ECACW Champ x17: 77, 78, 88, 90, 91, 93, 97, 02, 03, 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, 09, 10, 11
DIII Champ x3: 02, 03, 13
DIII Runner-up x1: 88, 05, 09
DII Runner-up x1: 80

Trying to follow your signature..... like the summary comparison, but some of the numbers do not appear to compute:
Examples:
- ECACW Champs awarded to both teams in 06 ?
- Eagles twice 03 ECAC W champ ?
- Eagles D3 Runner up x1, but listed 3 years.
- Platty listed as both D3 runner up and champ in 08.

They are combined accomplishments for the men's and women's teams. Some years both teams did the same thing... it's color coded for your convenience!

I included Men and Women on the same list. For Plattsburgh, Men are Red and Women are in Black. For Elmira, Purple is the Men and Gold is the Women. The Elmira "D3 Runner Up x1" was the only mistake, and I'm fixing it now.

Ah..tx for the explanation.

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

Me thinks Plattsburgh men will be playing Saturday at 1pm or Sunday afternoon.

Is the Women's Final Four Saturday/Sunday for sure? Could the QF game be on Friday night instead of Saturday?

Of course all of this is moot if the women don't take care of business against St. Thomas. We all remember last year's Semi-Final game, right?

It is a little early to be looking ahead to the final four venue. A long-shot for sure, but Plattsburgh has to beat St. Thomas first. With one game and a hot goaltender anything can happen! It seems to me in '13 Middlebury stunned Norwich in the quarter final and Plattsburgh in the semi-final (both teams confident of a Gove sister match-up) so let's wait and see . . .

Women play Friday/Saturday at 3:30 and 7. So a 12pm Saturday or a game on Sunday for the men are the likely options...

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

Think whole body of work. The NCAA doesn't weight the loss to Trinity any heavier than any other game. Therefore, straight up, I don't think there was any doubt Middlebury would be ranked above Norwich.

Seeding was pretty easy to figure out:

1. Plattsburgh
2. Elmira
3. UW River Falls
4. Middlebury
5. Norwich
6. Trinity
7. Lake Forest
8. St. Thomas

My only surprise was that they moved Lake Forest ahead of St. Thomas. Maybe the boys on "the other site" will explain it to us.

I don't think St Thomas was ever ahead of Lake Forest. Remember Lake Forest was ranked the first two weeks, and then slipped out after Bethel beat Gustavus and Bethel moved in. St. Thomas had never been ranked, so it is safe to assume that Lake Forest was deemed higher than St. Thomas the whole time.

As far as Adrian/River Falls goes, I went through it yesterday. Adrian's loss swung all of the categories River Falls way, so it probably wasn't even a question of who was 1st. I think if they had put Adrian as #1, then Adrian would be sitting in the tournament and River Falls would be at home which would be a joke.

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

Plus the obvious - if either had won their tourney, they wouldn't be in this spot!

As for the WIAC, they don't have enough teams to have a bottom so the comparison to other full conferences is apples to oranges.

He just said best conference...he didn't have any qualifiers :) :) :)

I think I was looking at the men's rankings (St. Thomas was the last team ranked) when I posted that. I keep jumping back and forth between discussions here and on the men's side.

I never looked at it closely enough to see that all of the criteria flipped. I didn't realize it was that easy.

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

Women also have practice times on Saturday, so Sunday is looking much better.

Just a couple comments/questions: 1/ I don't get why league champions are visitors to Pool C teams in 3 of the 4 match ups. Regardless of regular season, winning your league championship should count for something!
2/ I don't care if WIAC only has 4 teams and no automatic bid, they were getting a spot this year. Me thinks all 4 teams would have to be just awful before they would be left out!

River Falls is by far the best team from the West and deserves to be in the tournament based on their complete season. Glad they are representing the WIAC. Good luck to the Falcons!

It dos count for something...they got in.

Neither Lake Forest or St Thomas would have gotten in if they hadn't won their tourney. River Falls also was a conference champion and got a pool C bid because they don't get an autobid. Other than determining the autobid the conference championship game doesn't count for anymore than any other game. Are you really proposing that Elmira should have to travel to St Thomas because St Thomas got a pool A and Elira got a pool C?

No, not suggesting that at all. I'm fine with the match ups, I just think LF should host RF, Norwich should host Middlebury, and Trinity should host Elmira.

!

I was thinking about this...Wofford won their conference tourney in men's basketball today, Let's say Kentucky loses in their conference tourney...should Wofford geta higher seed then Kentucky because they won a conference tourney and Kentucky didn't?
