D-III Women's Bracketology

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

You ought to hear what they do when they get bored during club games. One night the referees came out to The Simpsons theme to start the 3rd period.

Lake Forest scores with 3 seconds left to win the Slaats cup and the berth to the NCAAs.

It was nice of the Adrian camera guy to turn the volume off halfway thru the third so that he could have a conversation with some random dude in the stands.

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

What a finish. Lake Forest scores with 3.3 seconds left and is headed to the Dance...

Question: Does avoidance of flights trump inter-conference match ups in the first round? Lake Forest will be the only school within 500 miles of Adrian in the west, so either Lake Forest comes back to Adrian, or someone flies for the first round...

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

I thought the River Falls--UWSP game was at 3 :( River Falls is up 3-0 on Stevens Point, half way through the 2nd.

And the WIAC is charging $8 to watch the broadcast...so thats all I will watch. :)

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

Booo. St Thomas beats Bethel 3-2 to win the MIAC.

Was really hopin for Bethel or CUW to win today.

Is this Lake Forest's first trip to the "big dance"? I can't remember.

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

River Falls pullin away....5-1 now, UWSP pulled their goalie with about 4 minutes to go

Lake Forest went to UW River Falls last year in the first round.

QUOTE=gojackets;6116950]If CUW can pull this off, it would be a pretty great story. The team has always been competitive with the top teams in the west, mainly due to strong goalie performances...and just haven't been quite good enough to win the big games. It would be a good thing for the program to get over the hump here. Plus its a good Cinderella story :)[/QUOTE]

the goalie I've seen is like a human barricade. I think she's only a sophomore, too.

Re: D-III Women's Bracketology

So, at 10:30pm on Saturday my prediction for the field is this:

In:
St. Thomas
Lake Forest
Plattsburgh
Elmira
Adrian
Middlebury
UW River Falls
Norwich/Castleton winner

If Trinity beats Middlebury tomorrow, just slide Trinity in for UW River Falls

Interesting note: If the NCAA follows the no-fly rule in the first round, Adrian has to play either W4 (Lake Forest) or E1/E2 Elmira. So which wins out: bracket integrity or avoiding conference matchups in the first round? I suspect Adrian is lined up to play Lake Forest in the QF. Finally, I think Plattsburgh and Elmira are playing for the overall #1 seed and the chance to host the Final Four in two weeks.

I think you mean slide Trinity in for Adrian. With Adrian in the NCHA semis and River Falls winning the WIAC...there's no way Adrian is still ahead of River Falls.

You also assume that Lake Forest will move back into the rankings and possibly St. Thomas which would benefit River Falls over Lake Adrian

Lake Forest for sure back into the rankings. St. Norbert has to fall out, right? I'm not sure Bethel falls all the way out to make room for St. Thomas, but maybe. I guess I thought gap between Adrian and River Falls was bigger than it is. It could be Adrian that is out. All this said, I don't see Middlebury losing tomorrow.

Why does everyone assume Adrian is the final Pool C candidate from the West? Doesn't Gustavus or Point still have a shot at jumping into that second West spot? Adrian beats GAC, GAC beats Point, Point beats Adrian, which makes it a virtual three-way tie. And, even though it is not a criterion, doesn't it make a difference that both Adrian and GAC didn't make it past their semis, while Point made it to their championship game? In addition, by taking Point or GAC, both conference and travel requirements can be met. Finally, Point stacks up better against Trinity than either Adrian or GAC, if Trinity loses today. Of course, if Trinity wins, the discussion about the #2 team in the West is moot.

There are three Pool C bids. River falls is getting one, and the Plattsburgh/Elmira loser is getting one. The last one will either be Adrian or Middlebury (if they lose today).

There really is no one else in consideration.

While I respect your opinion, it doesn't provide much in the way of an explanation. I get the fact there is only 1 spot up for grabs and that it goes to Middlebury if they lose today. I am questioning a second West pick if there is one.
