D-III Scores and Highlights: The stretch run and the road to the 'chip

Re: D-III Scores and Highlights: The stretch run and the road to the 'chip

Not really. Norwich does not stack up to RF or Platty in the NCAA criteria

This isn't complete true.

Norwich vs. Plattsburgh
WIN % 0.8043 1 0.7963 0
SOS 0.5175 0 0.5688 1
H2H 1- 1- 0 1- 1- 0
COP 4- 2- 1 1 4- 3- 3 0
RNK 5-4-0 (.556) 6-4-3 (.577)

They tie 2-2. Norwich takes win percentage and common opponents, while Plattsburgh takes record vs ranked teams and strength of schedule.

IMHO, the large difference in SOS is Plattsburgh's biggest asset.

Just looked at the boxscore of the Platty/RIT game. Looks like quite a goon show. Not the number of penalties, but the type of calls and the timing of them.
Surprized the NCAA would assign a woman to ref a playoff game. They just dont have the skills yet. (Sorry, but it's true.)

I beg to differ. The women that now ref usually played womens hockey, thus knowing the rules better than the male refs. If you look at the RF/adrian box score you'll see that there was, I believe, a full female reffing staff. Although there were some questionable hits and questionable penalties, they let the girls play. And on a side note, talking to some friends that ref, I do believe the "#1" ref in the country is a female

Sorry to disagree, but I have NEVER seen a game reffed by a woman that was "clean" and without controversy. During my Ds four years in the NCAA I also NEVER saw a female ref in the playoffs and very rarely in league games...and it was a pleasure after watching and suffering through years of agony in the PWHL!! :)

I'm yet to see a cleanly reffed game. Doesn't matter if its a male or female ref. Point is that you're doggin on women in a womens hockey forum. Smooth

Are you kidding me?? First I had to watch the games, then I had to listen to my D ALL THE WAY HOME !!! The girls know good reffing from bad. And you know as well as me about the quality of reffing in the PW.

Hey Archie...say Hi to "The Dingbat" and "Meathead" for us...

Re: D-III Scores and Highlights: The stretch run and the road to the 'chip

RIT wins on 2 PP goals in the third........hhhmmmmmmmmmm... that will really suck if Plattsburgh's season ends on this note....

Sorry...a fan's knee-jerk reaction to how the third period went...

I'm not going to say the reffing was good, but the last penalty was legit. Shaubel punched her in the head.

Re: D-III Scores and Highlights: The stretch run and the road to the 'chip

I find it funny that we are blaming the loss not on the refs, but the one female ref...especially when you are used to St Louis over in Platty.

the woman ref after a quick scan is a D1 ECAC ref as she has reffed for cornell, princeton etc...I'm sure she knows what she is doing

Seymore you seem like a classy person but to blame a loss on a woman ref seems a little low class

Oh Jackets...I'm not blaming the loss on the refs. RIT is a hell of a team and Plattsburgh was in tough from the get go. Full credit to them!! I was just commenting on the gamesheet and making an observation. And your reference to the St Louis combo is not without merit...they are BAD BAD BAD!! But I won't win this argument, so I won't go further. (But it did bring 54 Fighting off the golf course with a comment, so my night is made :) )

Wait a minute. You were at the game today and then drove home to So Cal ?

Had a chance to see the Manhattanville/Norwich game... very physical... ref's were god awful... scoreboard operator had some sticky fingers..... clock was held for 20 seconds..... lucky it didn't cost the game for either squad.... Good Luck though to the Valiants... Would love to see a battle of the "M" colleges.... Manhattanville/Middlebury..... also would love to see Norwich get the at-large bid.. they are a battle tested team..

Re: D-III Scores and Highlights: The stretch run and the road to the 'chip

yeah but RIT is a D1 program almost!

This is rich..No team wore the D1 moniker this year more than the Cards.

In fairness however, I get why. Truth be known....Houle should have won COTY year here for what he tried to do for this graduating class. Full Stop.

Regardless of what happens going forward....Stick tap to all the Laura Hurd hopeful's in Bond, Moon, Fairfeild, Dijulio, Meade, Giroux, Mackrell and Buehler.

You were a gritty bunch to play against.
