Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Well, it's disappointing to give up three losses over the last week. The Syracuse loss is especially disappointing given that we gave up a very flukey goal late in the third. Fortunately, White, Fortino and Rougeau will be back for the upcoming weekend. Karlee Overguard missed both games with Providence due to a "hand injury". I'm hoping she'll be back too. Very important Ivy and ECAC games against Harvard and Dartmouth coming up.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Cornell down 2-0 very early in the first, but we're playing very poorly so we'd better pick it up.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

2-1 Harvard after 1. Cornell looked really flat footed for the first 5 minutes of the game, but started to play better as the period went on. Harvard scored 2 goals in the first 3.5 minutes of the game. Rougeau scored from Jue to make it 2-1 at the 5 minute mark. Shots on goal 12-8 Harvard. Cornell will start the second on the PP.

4-2 Harvard after 2. Cornell's now got a 17-16 shot edge. Cornell played much better that period. We'll have our work cut out for us in the third. We had some great chances in the second but Kessler was up to the task.

Cornell ties it with 4.4 seconds left!!!! K. Overguard scores from Fortino and Rougeau. Karlee is clutch in desperate situations.

Big Red against the Big Green about to begin. I'll post updates. A win will move Cornell into a tie for first place in the ECAC with Clarkson. Although, Clarkson will have a game in hand.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Cornell up 1-0 after 1. Fortino from Rougeau and Jue. Shots 11-8 Cornell. Cornell has looked good in the first period. Although we've taken 3 penalties, we've killed them all off, and are 1 for 1 on our power play opportunities.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Cornell up 3-1 after 2. Karpenko from Fortino and Karpenko gets another unassisted on the PP. Parson scores for Dartmouth on their 6th PP near the end of the period. That is only the second PP goal Cornell has given up this season on 67 opportunities.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

3-1 final. Cornell held the shot edge 28 to 25. Cornell looked solid from the opening face off and pretty much the entire game.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Cornell and Colgate are 0-0 after 1. Cornell has a 13-5 shot advantage. Karpenko does not appear to be playing today. Hopefully she'll be back for tomorrow.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Cornell is up 3-2 after 2 with a 28-9 shot advantage. The scoring for Cornell was A. Overguard from Ogilvie, K. Overguard from Fortino and White from Fortino and Jue.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

3-3 after 3. Shots are 33-15 in favor of Cornell. Colgate will start OT on the pp.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Cornell is up on Colgate 2-0 after 1, thanks to 2 pp goals. The first was scored by Rougeau from the point assisted by Fortino and White (though I thought it might have been tipped) and the second was a beautiful back door setup which was scored by Fortino from Karpenko and Rougeau. Shots on goal are 13-2 Cornell.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Just turned on the game. Cornell up 4-0 after 2. What the heck happened yesterday?

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Cornell up 4-0 after two. Rougeau scores another from Fortino and White, and Young scored from Martino and Zorn. Actually Rougeau had another goal waved off due to high sticking. Not sure where that came from since she took a blast from the above the circles and I didn't see anyone tip it. The next face off was in Cornell's end with no penalty called.

Cornell has the shots on goal advantage 27-7 through two.

Also, Jue was given a diving penalty after being knocked over by Colgate's goalie. Colgate's goalie received a checking penalty. Never seen diving called in a college game before.

I'm not sure what happened yesterday. I wasn't able to watch yesterdays game as I was at work. Cornell had large shots on goal advantage. I'm guessing we got lax defensively yesterday. Watching todays game, it doesn't look like a team we should have tied. They're fairly undisciplined and take a ton of less than necessary penalties.

6-0 final score. Jue scores from White (though its listed as unassisted on live stats) and Rougeau gets the other from Jue. Final shots are 38 to 17 Cornell. I was quite pleased with how Cornell played today. Very strong effort. Rougeau lead the way with 2 goals and 2 assists. Fortino had 2 goals and 1 assist.
