Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Do you know who played in net for Cornell? Union's game recap and the box score say Slebodnick, but Cornell's game recap says Wilson... as did live stats.

I thought it was Wilson-
I watched the game via computer- feed was terrible-

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Cornell wins 3-0. Cornell lead the final shots on goal were 32-24.

I wish I could have watched this game. I didn't want to say anything and jinx her before the game, but Lauren Slebodnick left absolutely nothing to be desired in the previous games I watched her play. She is the real deal.

Humbly admit that I was wrong with my prediction earlier today. Had picked MC to win based on the fact Mazotta was injured. Clearly Cornell has more than one very capable goalie, and they were ready to roll. Maybe they were looking ahead to this game when playing Union, while MC was feasting on the Bears. Hockey Voodoo suggests that was the best wakeup call for the Big Red.

Congrats to the Big Red. Suspect that they will now remain a clear top two seed for the tournament.

I have to admit. I didn't know how this game would go so I just voted as a homer. Fortunately, it worked out. :D

How about this for a one to punch in net?
29 Amanda Mazzotta JR | 792:19 MP 95.3% SP 0.91 GAA (4 shutouts)
30 Lauren Slebodnick FR | 288:20 MP 99.0% SP 0.21 GAA (3 shutouts)

There are another two shutouts unaccounted for because Mazzotta and Slebodnick split time in net in the games against Niagara.

These impressive stats might suggest the strength of the Cornell defense at least as much as its goaltending. How about putting the third goalie in net in upcoming weeks to see if that theory holds? :D

I would prefer to debate this topic hypothetically. :D

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

I believe she is out until sometime in February----Cornell has other problems though-- team unity or LACK of ---- more like it

Even if true, not an appropriate post. Just checked your past postings. You don't often have anything good to say on this team. Maybe you should not say anything at all. !

Im sorry, I did't realize this chat board was for positive comments only. Truth of the matter is, there has been turmoil on that team since deraugh took over- he may know hockey but he doesn't have a clue about dealing with people and dealing with young people- it's not all about the almighty win

Similar to last season with Brown, take offense when people air "the dirty laundry" on a forum. Even if there is internal turmoil, that is where it should stay, internal. I have no use for past or present member axe grinders. My record on this speaks for itself.

Sticks21 has been trying to fabricate controversy for the last couple of years. From what I've seen, team unity is great. I've also heard a number of players specifically state it is one of the strongest aspects of this team.

I don't need to fabricate anything- It's there Matt
- 2 years ago, players like wauer, Moore, Duffy, the girl from UNH-the goalie did not walk away from that team to further studies-
There was a huge controversy on that team-- involving those players and the way they were treated- or mistreated---

and for this year's team --- I have heard players state "IT's not a team"

Don't get me wrong, The team is loaded with talent and Derraugh surely knows the game; however he does not know how to deal with young minds-

there has always been a huge Canadian bias--- talk to some of the alum --- many are upset with this--
Been around Ithaca for a while---- Have heard lots!
I'm not fabricating anything- take off your blinders

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

I know zero about the inner workings of the Cornell team. I would guess that there is some element of truth to what sticks is saying -- rare is the team (or business organization of 20 people or more) where everyone likes each other and the boss. Most of the top teams have had some type of strife or friction over the years. A coach brings in all of the talent possible, then asks people to accept lesser roles than they feel they deserve. Sometimes, the problems boil over and the team blows up. Or players make the best of the hand they've been dealt and perservere. Seldom is everything roses all around for 6 months on any team at this level, especially on one bordering on an All-Star team. That doesn't mean they can't win, because in the end, it comes down to which team plays hockey the best, not which one will have the most fun at a reunion in ten years.
