Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Just want to send a great big thank on a great season to the entire Cornell team and coaching staff. It has been a pleasure watching you this season.

Also, want to send a special thank you to the seniors (Hayley Hughes, Karlee Overguard, Amber Overguard and Katie Wilson) on four great years. It has been a pleasure watching you play for the last four years. I wish you much success in your future endeavors!

I'm already counting down the days until next season. The Big Red will be back with vengeance!!!:D

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

It's a bummer about Cornell. I was hoping to see at least one of last year's Championship game teams in this year's final. Plus, I sort of have warm fuzzies for Cornell after that game last year in Ridder Arena.

And how cool would it have been to cheer "Go Big Red" and have it apply to either of the teams?

There's always next year. And I have to say, this year has really stuck me as noticing how far this game has come for women.

Like to echo your statements, and I'm sure this is a learning experience, and they will be back.

Clearly Cornell did not have a good game yesterday, at least not up to their standards (IMHO). After a great first period (by both teams), not sure what was missing, but the Big Red could never get it going in the second or third period. Props to BU, they controlled the game after giving up an early lead to Cornell and were the deserving winners in yesterday's game. Now rooting for them tomorrow.

Nice article in the Ithaca Journal looking back on this past season and forward to the next. Article does state that Cornell will play two games each against Mercyhurst and BU next season. This is very good to hear. It looks like both series will take place in the fall around thanksgiving. It would be nice if at least one of the series was taking place closer to the post season but at this point I'll take what i can get.

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

My understanding is a 12-13 recruit.

Can anyone give me a description of her style of play/strengths?

Skating is her strength, very fast with a hard shot. She played with boys AAA all of her life except a 3-year stint at Shattuck St. Mary's and she plays like it! Skating style would be similar to Bendus with a harder shot.

Thank you for the info. Sounds like she is a nice addition.
