Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Good weekend for the Big REd--- 8-0 over Brown and 7-1 over Yale---- Slebodenick playing well-
How long is Mazzota out for? Who will play goal in playoffs?

Wilson played against Brown. Slebodnick has, as you said, been playing well...very well.

I thought Mazzotta was supposed to be back a week or two ago. If she's not back for next weekend it'd be hard to imagine throwing her out there in the playoffs when she would not have played since early December. Of course, I sit in the cheap seats.

I thought she was expecting to be able to come back mid-February. Maybe next weekend?

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

4-2 loss to Dartmouth was ugly- Not a great way to enter playoffs- Hopefully Cornell will show up to play, (as the team they have been ALL season), against Harvard today-

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Rebecca Johnston tied the game with seven seconds remaining 2-2, after having had a goal disallowed about a minute and a half earlier in play. Going to OT.

Wow...that was a close one. See they posted on ECAC that Cornell won 3-2 in OT. Let's hope the girls rebound with a stronger game tomorrow!

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

I saw on the ECAC website with 18 min. to go in the 3rd, Cornell was losing 2-1 to RPI. Any update?

All the scoring updates during the game were posted in the ECAC playoff thread.

A question to Cornell fans. Is Mazzota going to come back this season at all? Postseason play has began and I would think if she's not back by now, it would be tough for her to get back into game shape. Did she play few enough games to qualify for a medical redshirt?

To qualify for a medical redshirt, a player may not compete in more that 20% of her team's regular season schedule. Mazzotta played in 14, and it looks like 5 or 6 would have been the maximum.

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Congrats to the team on their 2nd ECAC Championship!!! Cornell has done so well lately - it's worth remembering that just a few years ago winning the ECAC title was just a dream. These ladies have a lot to be proud of.

I can't wait to watch the NCAA tourney, even if they are playing Darty again. :D

LET'S GO RED!!!
