Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

I know zero about the inner workings of the Cornell team. I would guess that there is some element of truth to what sticks is saying -- rare is the team (or business organization of 20 people or more) where everyone likes each other and the boss. Most of the top teams have had some type of strife or friction over the years. A coach brings in all of the talent possible, then asks people to accept lesser roles than they feel they deserve. Sometimes, the problems boil over and the team blows up. Or players make the best of the hand they've been dealt and perservere. Seldom is everything roses all around for 6 months on any team at this level, especially on one bordering on an All-Star team. That doesn't mean they can't win, because in the end, it comes down to which team plays hockey the best, not which one will have the most fun at a reunion in ten years.

Well Said.

Yes, Mazzotta is still out. I would assume Slebodnick will get the start against RPI.

Congrats to Wilson on her first career shutout this evening.

yes congrats to Wilson!!!! What happened to A. Young? she was not dressed?

Well said and very accurate. After Harvard won the AIWA championship in '99, I was invited to attend the team awards banquet. I sat with several Harvard players, one of whom spent the majority of the evening ripping into a couple of her teammates. It happens and it is usually driven by some personal jealousy or grudge against the coach for lack of playing time, playing favorites, etc...

Bottom line - if the team is talented, hardworking and buys into the coach's system and can execute and get great goaltending, all the other stuff tends to fade into the background. Winning cures a lot of ills. I don't see Cornell having a problem here.

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Is Mazotta still injured? Is Slebodinick playing against RPI

Slebodnick got her 5th shut-out of the season tonite, 6-0 win over RPI.

Cornell now has 13 shut-outs (out of 23 GP) on the season and have only allowed 16 goals in those 23 games (which 4 of them were in their only loss to Mercyhurst months ago).

Can anyone beat the Big Red this year? I know word around Boston is no one in the East can touch them. Also heard they had a couple recruits in this weekend....any information on that? Seems like Deraugh just keeps reloading.

It looked like Young took a puck during the last Colgate game. She limped off the ice. Not sure if that is the cause of her not dressing this weekend or not.

Re: Cornell Big Red 2010-2011

Congrats to Cornell for Clinching the ECAC regular season title this afternoon. Unfortunately, I didn't see last night's tie against Clarkson. Cornell start the game against SLU very sluggish, but picked it up about started picking it up about half way through the second period. Hopefully, they got that out of their system, and they'll be clicking on all cylinders through the home stretch and playoffs.
