And although its often talked about as having world class standard of living and the fifth richest metro area in the country...MSP can't figure it out. And we have a D state government. Just spend time on Broadway and Penn and you'll know what I'm talking about. No wonder folks are po'd.

I just did the Google street view of that intersection in Minneapolis. It looks like most small towns in ND these days (closed businesses, boarded up shops).

Because to assume what are general social problems are only specific to one group and therefore should be the sole responsibility of said group is: a) Ignorant, b) Horribly racist, and c) Contributes greatly to the said problem.

Who said sole responsibility? It just comes off hypocritical that a group promoting keeping black people alive doesn't care one bit about what its own members are doing to each other.

Who says they don't care about it? I've heard plenty speak out about it so it's not like it never gets addressed. Not to mention when blacks kill each other they go to jail for it and are held responsible.

When cops do it they never face responsibility for their actions and keep doing it. Until that starts getting addressed you're going to see protests and rioting.

I had a foreclosed house I bought for $23k in 2010 about 8 blocks north of there (it was gutted). I fixed and rented it out to a single AA head of household woman with 2 children and one grandchild. There was about six 911 calls originating from the address over about 2 and a half years (probably 10 overall). One time the young girl of the house was playing in the street with a neighbor who insulted another neighbor child. The two ran into the house I was renting out. The neighbor who gave the insult later went home...but a gang showed up and stoned my house and terrorized it over 3 days. I believe the net damage was about 7 broken windows. But thankfully, I don't think there were guns involved in that situation. I just believe as a society, we can do better.

Sounds to me like community standards are being set by gangs and not the folks that live there.

It will be interesting to see what NBC does about this.

I'll bet they hide it. In fact I'll bet the Rio and IOC authorities insisted upon it as a condition of the contract, like when they knuckled under to the PRC and didn't run any stories on human rights abuses.

These are corporations, not news organizations. The major shareholders of NBC are the same 10k a-holes who own the Brazilian government and the Chinese import/export trade.

Point 1: Not only blacks are getting killed by police, in face more whites and latinos are killed by police each year.
Point 2: A large majority of people killed by police are armed and a legitimate threat to the police.
Point 3: Far more black people are killed by other black people than by the police.

If everyone were to focus on these facts, maybe there could be some progress made. Correct issues with the police forces, regardless of race. Start to clean up dangerous neighborhoods by engaging the law abiding citizens and actually start preventing a much larger killer of people: gang violence.

That is still far more deaths than other countries of similar economic status. Also I like how they're blamed for exercising their 2nd amendment rights in the end of that segment

While there certainly are dangers and I certainly wouldn't advise people to go on strolls around there at 3 a.m., it's not quite as you are making it out. I grew up on the north side.
And, while I'm sure you won't believe this, those dangers are pretty colorblind.
Now, if you are taking that 3 a.m. stroll dressed like an office worker who lives in suburbia, you are more likely to be targeted simply due to the perceived number of valuables and currency you have on your person.

A few years ago, coming down Broadway around midnight, my (white) friends and I in the car, I had a broken tail-light or something. Got pulled over. Got a fixit ticket, and was told to run every red light until I was out of the neighborhood. Don't stop. Cop gave me a card with his number on it, in case a different cop pulled me over for running any lights.

I won't even come CLOSE to going that far. Parts of Chi-Raq, Detroit, E St Louis, obviously Compton, even Gary IN is probably more dangerous. But it definitely doesn't make it safe.

Edit: many years ago, my aunt lived in Gainesville FLA. She said there were parts of that town where cops were not allowed to go in alone, even in a car. Had to have at LEAST two officers per car, preferably two cars for every call or patrol.

I have had my car broken into 3 times...twice in Uptown (they stole nothing) and once in Plymouth (they stole tons of stuff) and never in North Minneapolis two blocks off Broadway. Guess what I can give anecdotal evidence too.

Women get raped in Uptown, people shoot cops in Plymouth and Crystal...black people get shot in cars in Falcon Heights. Should we talk about who is dangerous in Phalen?

Any cop who told you that btw is a tool. They say stuff like that in Newark...to do so on flipping Broadway Ave is so laughable I wonder if the cop was drunk.
