Come Back With Your Shield, Or On It: MSU Spartan Hockey 2010-11

Re: Come Back With Your Shield, Or On It: MSU Spartan Hockey 2010-11

I want to say that MSU will sweep, but I predict a split.
I've give a lobe of my liver and the tip of my left pinky for a sweep this weekend. I, selfishly, want us to win our next four and somehow squeak into 8th.

That said, I just don't see a sweep happening. Again, we haven't swept anybody all season, and Fairbanks is a very rough trip. A bright spot: We're catching the Nanooks at a good time, but, well, we caught NMU at what was supposed to be a good time, too. We all know what happened there...

I'll find a way to cross all of my fingers and toes by Friday, though.

I could see the Aurora from my childhood home in Soldotna. Currently, it's a balmy 3 degrees there. It's -30 in FBX.

And we, at least, have the common decency to bury our septic tanks, too. (Don't give me that permafrost crap, Fairbanksians.)

I wished for a sweep last week. Oops we got one. Cheena Springs is great!

We're not too bright up here in Fairbanks, but even we know that sh*t runs downhill. ;)

BTW, temps are suppose to rise above zero so it should be a lovely weekend in Fairbanks. Chena Hots Springs, Aurora, scoreless hockey, and cold beer await your beckon call. MSU has a reputation of bringing a knowledgeable, adventurous, and pleasant group of fans to Fairbanks. Hope some you make it and get out and about.

I must warn you however. Although I have been in Fairbanks most my life, and I have never personally seen it, I understand from recent conversations that you should watch out for stinky tanks up on stilts. You probably won't see it in Fairbanks, but I hear it's a real concern in places like Soldotna. Soldotna is just a little "downhill" from Fairbanks. :)

Last weekend crushed my will and excitement. The games are away and not on Tv so I am going to enjoy my weekend and not worry about things. If we come out with 2 wins then amazing, next week will be all the more exciting.

Next weekend you'll get to say goodbye to Dustin Gazely and Joey Shean. Gaze has been fun to watch over the years. Oh, and to Rick Comley...

Well it is senior night. RC will continue to receive the Denny's discount.

Props to MSU fans that ventured North.
I assume the men folk were in the beer room. :)

Nice split, would have preferred a sweep of course. Any word on injuries? Walrod tweeted about a concussion, but Coach sounded concerned about Leveille after the game.

I honestly went into the weekend hoping for a sweep, but where Alaska ends up after next weekend in the standings is anyone's guess (There's a 6-point span from #4 and #9 right now). Ergo who knows ... ironically, winning the last 3 could put us back in Fairbanks, OR having a bad final weekend could keep us away from there. So you could say the most important thing is to roll into playoff weekend #1 with a head of steam and some confidence.

Still have a chance for #9 (for pride's sake); say tOSU drops 2 against Ferris and tMSU sweeps bgsu, and we'd win the #1 tiebreaker.

P.S. I understand Leveille suffered an ACL tear. He might as well take a redshirt, find himself again and be ready for 2012.
