That's true, and although I may have been rash, I was still pretty angry. With saying nothing but "great job DU" and "great game, I wasn't feeling great about the final result", it just seemed just disrespectful and unnecessary to react the way they did. Both sides played a great game (the final result comment wasn't sarcastic, as one may think), and I was proud to escape with a win, after the last few times DU has been in World Arena, the fact has been that it hasn't been good.
Both sides have terrible fans, I was just unfortunate to encounter several of the worst.
I've had things thrown at me at DU, but I know it doesn't represent most of you, just as the actions of the idiots tonight don't represent most of us. If I had seen that happen to you, I would have jumped in on your side in a heartbeat. I think most of us who follow one of these teams for more than these 4 games each season are good fans, and usually are civil to each other. If you go to the next game at World Arena, I'll buy you a beer before the game. Personally, I think part of what makes this rivalry so great is that both teams are usually good, the games ALWAYS have a playoff intensity to them, and as much as we may hate each other's teams, there is still a mutual respect. That's true, and although I may have been rash, I was still pretty angry. There were like 3 or 4 things thrown. I'm not justifying what those people did, by any means, and when it happened, I was muttering to myself "come on, don't do this." But really, I counted 3 cups on the ice. And if you've never seen that at a rink, you cannot have been to many places. Again, I am NOT justifying what those morons did, because I HATE that, and I hope something was done about it, but don't pretend that it was widespread tonight and that doesn't happen from time to time at every rink. Hell, your own student fan base was well known for it before the nets were up.Throwing things on to the ice should never happen in any rink. The World Arena staff should be more proactive in the way they enforce NCAA regulations as it's a matter of player safety. By not taken action they are encouraging the poor sportsmanship. I have not seen objects thrown at players at any other rink. This was disturbing. I would feel just as strongly, maybe even more so, if I was a CC fan. Under NCAA regulations fans have just as much responsibility around sportsmanship as the athletes.
I agree. I don't want to see that happen anywhere, no matter how few or how many. I'm not sure there was a way for ushers to see who did it, but if they did, I hope it was enforced. I've seen it at several rinks, even in the last 10 years (including yours), and it ****es me off every time. I despise those kinds of actions by so-called "fans," and there is NEVER a justification for it. I hate it more when it is "fans" of my team doing it.Haven't seen it in college rinks in easily the last ten years. Not meaning to make a big deal about it...all I'm saying is the lack of enforcement leads to the violations. Doesn't matter how many items are thrown--one is too many.
On another note--cool to see two Springs natives light it up for DU tonight!

In the college game, is throwing things on the ice a possible home team penalty? .... the gauntlet has been thrown down for Boone..... .
We can lock the pan up with the sweep tomorrow.
You can't lock up the pan with a win tonight. You have to win the season series. If CC would have swept this weekend they would have locked it up because they have it right now.
Never crown anybody in november. Never.I'm going on record now as saying that I think this DU team will run away with the WCHA. You guys have an unbelievable team, and all I can do is shake my head while I congratulate you for the *** kicking you handed CC tonight, even though I didn't think CC played badly, aside from the freakin' faceoff circle. The two best recent DU teams I can recall were the 02(?) team who lost at Yost in the tourney, and the 05 repeat National Championship team. I think this team might be better than both of those. They have amazing talent, and they have the best work ethic I have seen in years from DU. My hat is off to your team.
Haha, we CC fans know that better than nearly anybody. Unless DU has some critical injuries or a serious meltdown, they will continue to be an absolute FORCE this season.Never crown anybody in november. Never.
