Colorado College versus The University of Denver (CC vs DU)

Re: Colorado College versus The University of Denver (CC vs DU)

Great series (for DU). I couldn't believe CC stormed back in the first game. They really SHOULD have scored a 6th goal to tie it up...so many chances, I can't believe that game didn't go to OT. Unfortunately for CC, the 2 minutes after the game on Friday doomed them for Saturday night. Schwartz should have known better. I think DU still would have won on Saturday with with Schwartz playing, but it would have been more of a one-goal game, than a 4-goal game. That guy is a great player, and seems to have an extra gear vs. DU.

Good job by DU in keeping disciplined. There have been many years where DU would have been the team to take a five-minute major, and I'm glad that CC is doing it now.

Knowlton is super-impressive so far. A gritty, hard working player with attitude and skill to match. Levin and Tabrum have surprised me, and have added some much-needed depth from our forwards. I would like to see Loney return to form. Hopefully just a matter of time.

All in all--looking good. I thought we'd be at 6-4 right now. 9-1 is much better. And a sweep of our arch-rivals already on the books. Like any season, we'll see some peaks and valleys. But I could not have asked for a better start.

BTW--I second all the nice comments about JSTigers below. In Swami's absence, it's nice to see some civility and knowledge around here. Cause I know that I can't provide it!

CC looking into security after DU team and game officials were hit with drinks and food from the stands after the game ended on Friday. Ken Ralph apologized to Gwoz by phone and in person on Saturday. Mike Chambers has a full report about the incident in the Post. Good move by Ken to review their security procedures especially for the CC/DU games. I have no problem with fans booing or yelling but throwing things at the players and officials is uncalled for. I was there and it was not a lot of the fans who did it but one is too many.

The real issue was the unsafe conditions for visiting fans leaving the arena. Will be interesting to see the backlash when it all comes out.

Yeah, you can say what you want about "a few rotten apples," but that's no excuse. Too many reports over the years of idiotic behavior in Colorado Springs, and it's time that something is done about it. Good to see part of this problem getting some press.

Re: Colorado College versus The University of Denver (CC vs DU)

Again, preaching to the choir here. If you know our program AT ALL, don't you think a CC fan would understand that? Believe me, I want DU to fade down the stretch. But there's not one ounce of me that sees it happening this year unless they have some major injuries. And anyone who has watched them much this year is likely to agree with me about how good they are. I didn't expect it, and I don't even think most DU fans expected it, but this team is head and shoulders above everyone else in the conference right now, and I see no reason why they can't sustain it. I see two threats, but they have issues: Minnesota reads the press clippings about how talented they are, and as usual in recent years, they consistently get outworked on the ice. North Dakota is always there in the end, but they are playing the worst defense I can recall them playing in years so they have some major work to do. Both teams will likely get better, but by the time they do, DU may be far ahead of both of them.
Like I said never crown a team in November. Boom.
