This is what happens when it rains for a week straight!!!! Even Scottsdale was getting rain. Funny fall/winter. We've actually gotten a ton of "real" weather.

Nothing to see here...typical Ohio State

Should be noted that it's not really the tattoo thing that's the big issue here, it's selling merchandise for cash.

Ohio State violating the rules...surely you jest! Maurice Clarett paid for the new car he was driving every week around campus...what college student cant afford to trade in cars every week?

That the NCAA is letting them play in the Sugar Bowl is the second biggest crime of this Bowl Season. (behind Cam Newton)

See, if Pryor had just given the stuff to his parents and let THEM sell it, he would have skated.

No. The BCS is the biggest crime of this bowl season.

Wait...so ineligible players CAN play in bowl games? So does that mean USC's championship still happened, just not the regular season?

I'm so confused.

Just think, if St. Tressel didn't wear a sweatervest on the sideline, maybe he's actually catch some heat for this...

Well, Pryor's defense went out the window when he tweeted last night "I paid for my tats."

Well, he didn't lie exactly. He just forgot to add "... with money from selling my Big Ten title ring." ;)

That's why the NCAA didn't ban them from the Sugar Bowl...they got improper rules instructions.

Everyday the NCAA makes themselves even more pathetic. It's shocking.

USC: One athlete, parents got money, Bush didn't get anything (NCAA claims car but has no proof) school doesn't know until after he's gone.

2 bowl year ban, 30 lost schollies, vacated wins for when the player was ineligible (the 2005 title should never have been vacated because they made up the date of when the car was purchased making him ineligible!)

Auburn: One athlete, parents got money, school knows while he is in school.

No punishment.

Ohio State: 5 athletes, athletes get direct benefits, schools find out.

No vacated wins, no lost scholarships, they're suspended for 5 games...but for the next season.

ALL MAKES SENSE.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

From the ESPN article:

The players are eligible for the bowl game because the NCAA determined they did not receive adequate rules education during the time period the violations occurred, Lennon said.

Based on that a school should offer no rules education whatsoever and then use it as a defense whenever necessary. Obviously I'm going a bit over the top there, but that's about the stupidest reason for something that I've ever heard.

One of the things the NCAA did with USC was claim because they didn't have enough compliance employees they were promoting a lack of institutional control. So...USC didn't get to use that one as an excuse. But now they've basically used it the other way: talking out of both sides of their mouth.

If you don't educate the athletes: your fault. Except when we don't want it to be your fault.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

So my question to the NCAA is...

If we insert North Texas instead of Ohio State and Joe Schmo quarterback instead of Tyrell Pryor, does the suspension start for the bowl game?

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

Some of the players will simply go pro before anything else happens.

***. Nice work NCAA. How are they retroactively eligible?

Depends on the bowl game...

How is it that I know that what the OSU players did was wrong but they didn't? What a crock.

So Cam Newton didnt know his dad was getting money and OSU players didnt know they couldnt sell stuff. (in a year when Green at Georgia got nailed FOR SELLING STUFF!!) Funny, for student athletes they sure dont seem to know anything.

I am no USC bobo, but if I was them I would be looking for blood right now.
