Whatever color the turf, Villanova has been absolutely horrible tonight. Is that five or six turnovers now?

A few of the early Bowl games today, a few of the D1-AA Playoff games, and the D2 and D3 Championship games as well today. The D2 championship game features our very own Minnesota-Duluth, who are heavily favored in the game, verses Delta State(Mississippi). The D3 Championship game is another matchup of Wisconsin-Whitewater vs. Mount Union. The D3 committee isn't going to know what to do with themselves whenever the both of those 2 schools don't make it to the title game.

I'm surprised they don't have/aren't wearing red jerseys.

They have them and wore them for the quarterfinal against NDSU.
I wonder if ESPN said something as (at least to me) those jerseys blend into the field even more than Boise State's do.

Thanks, I was pretty sure I had seen pictures of them in red. For me, if ESPN had said "Hey, those jerseys blend in with your field", my response would have been "Darn right they do."

Overtime alert in the D2 championship game on ESPN2. UMD is knotted up with delta state 17 all with a minute to go.

Delaware beats Georgia Southern to advance to the finals...not sure why GS coach was such a dink at end of game (handshake)...his team fumbled 5 times and threw an int

Ralph Friedgen out at Maryland.

Replaced by.... Mike Leach.

Arrgh matey!

Edit: Should say, the Leach thing isn't official. Maryland also rumored to be looking at Ty Willingham and Mike Locksley. Seriously.

is it just me, or have coaches gotten more visably moody in the last decade.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

That would be... strange.

What I think is more strange is the other two who are supposedly getting a look. Locksley is 2-22 in his career. 2-22! I don't care how "local" he is.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

Chizik was 5-19 at Iowa State before going to Auburn...Ferentz was like 11-20 at Maine. You never know.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

Kind of interesting story on BCS schools drug policies.

At Florida it takes 5 offenses to get kicked off the team. Purdue, UCLA and Illinois have the same policy.

I also chuckled at this line:
• At Ole Miss, a student-athlete with a second positive drug test also doesn't miss any playing time, but loses "certain privileges such as complimentary player or family game tickets."

The horror!

The AD must be on crack...the only thing worse than keeping a guy who is a proven .500 coach is hiring a guy like one of those guys and inviting either a compliance problem or 2-10 every season.

They have; but they've also gotten lower job security in the last decade, so I can't really blame 'em too much. Though they have certainly gotten higher pay, too. And that still doesn't mean they should treat the support staff like crap.

(why no, I'm not bitter about the way some coaches treated their SIDs/trainers/facilities people back when I was an SID. Not at all...)

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

We must preserve the bowl system! Otherwise how would teams get into fights over a dance off?

Apparently tensions rose between Louisville and Southern Miss players during yesterday's dance competition (dominated by Titus Le'fiasco Teague) to the point where armed Florida Highway Patrol officers had to show up and intervene. Both teams boarded their respective buses and later events were canceled.

"They started talking trash about us being in Conference USA, [that] we can't dance… it was stupid. We'll do our talking on the field," uttered one Golden Eagle who refused to be identified. "A friendly dance competition and they take it all serious? It's ridiculous."
