Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Boise jumps TCU in the AP poll.

So long as they win out, Boise will get a nice little push by beating a top 20 team in Nevada. VT has now won eight in a row and is back up to #14. If VT didn't lose to James Madison they'd be close to a top 5 team in the country right now.

No excuse for Boise not be the the top Non-BCS team now.

Now they just need Auburn and Oregon to both lose.

Tell me again why the Broncos don't deserve a chance?

Almost any time a question starts with "why" the answer is money.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

I think if they go undefeated, and Auburn or Oregon slips up, they most definitely should be in the title game. But right down, I really don't think you can say Boise is getting screwed or anything. Oregon and Auburn are just better.

Yeah, but if Alabama wins the Iron Bowl and Auburn still gets to the national title game ahead of an undefeated Boise or TCU, people are going to call bull****.

Oh for sure. And I'll be right there with them. I'm just saying that right now, with all 4 teams undefeated, I have absolutely no problem with a Auburn-Oregon title game at the expense of Boise or TCU. I think the "Boise isn't getting their chance" talk is a little premature is all.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Dammit. We were only 23 spots away from the BCS title game. Then we lose to Mizzou. Oh well. I will console myself with the thoughts of Colorado and North Texas the next 2 weeks.

I agree. However, if one of them slips up..Boise deserves a shot if they take care of business the rest of the way.

However, I can tell you that Auburn will have to lose twice most likely in order for Boise to pass them.

Uh, Boise being ahead of TCU is a joke.

The entire system is a joke. Boise was #4(?) to begin the season, has gone undefeated and is now #3. Teams that were behind them in the polls are now in front of them. Because God forbid Boise play for the National Championship.

On what planet would it make sense for an undefeated WAC team to be ahead of an undefeated PAC-10 and SEC team?

I don't know. What's TCU's best win? Utah? The same Utah that just got crushed by Notre Dame?

Not that Boise's best win is much better, but it's hardly a "joke" to think that Boise might be better.

So don't have polls until the first week of the BCS or whatever. Boise did nothing to lose their ranking.

If you are in a BCS conference and are ranked third, and someone above you loses, you are moved up to #1 or #2. If you in any other conference, you never move up to #2 or #1. On what planet does an unbeaten SEC team finish behind an unbeaten PAC-10 and Big 12 team? A planet where USC and Oklahoma are #1 and #2 in both polls in the pre-season and never lose. Auburn was ranked #17/18 to start the season and never broke through.

Had Boise State been the pre-season #1 or #2 and never lost, they would have been passed by Auburn.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

TCU's quality wins (ranking at time/ current record):

#24 Oregon State, 4-5
#5 Utah, 8-2

You could also consider:
Baylor, 7-4
BYU, 5-5

BYU is a bit down this season, so that win isn't as good as usual.

BSU's quality wins:

#10 Virginia Tech, 8-2
#24 Oregon State, 4-5

You could also consider:
Hawai'i, 7-3

Boise still has #21 Nevada (9-1) coming up and if still ranked will give them another quality win.

If VT ends up in the ACC title game, BSU is going to trump all of TCU's wins.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

I wonder if Oregon will punished for their bad game against Cal...... NAH!!

Only if Cal goes out and loses badly in the next game or two. Then they will be punished at least by the computers. Which could happen as they play Stanford and Washington.

Uh, yeah. That's going to happen when you play WAC games while others play PAC-10 and SEC games.

If you want to throw a hissy if/when a one loss LSU or Auburn gets an invite to the title game over undefeated Boise, by all means, go ahead. But there's no reason to expect Boise State to hold off an undefeated Big 10, SEC, Big XII or PAC-10 team this year. This isn't farking rocket science.

If Boise played a team like Fresno State or Idaho to a 15-13 game, there would be no qualms about dropping them down in the polls.

Polls != Computers.

Polls are human driven and its pointless to argue about how the voters vote.
