College Football 2022: “Here’s a twenty, bury two.”

Its interesting to see the crowds at these games. Things have really dropped off over the years. Back in 2013/14 we went to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando- and it was packed- half the stadium was Florida, the other half Michigan. These games have a LOT of empty seats. And IIRC, all of the teams (other than Liberty) have had a strong history of fans going to their bowl games.

Curious.

Kill the bowls, expanded home site playoffs! :-P

I wonder how prices compare nowadays. It’s surprisingly hard to find face value for these games, especially NY6, because they’re sold almost immediately to brokers or set aside for schools.

They are sold out? How? The stadiums are not all that full. That kind of tells me scalpers are buying most of the tickets instead of fans.

BTW, while the Rose Bowl tickets were expensive, they were not *that bad* considering the game to get from the school. The secondary market, on the other hand....

It seems not unlikely that the big ten bowl season will be:

wins: Minnesota, Rutgers, Northwestern, Maryland
losses: Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Iowa, Michigan (tbd)

The Peach Bowl has bragged like every year since COVID that they’re sold out the same day they sell tickets. I would guess between brokers and businesses and the school blocks that it’s pretty easy to sell out. And then the brokers hope for a good matchup.

For the non-NY6, not sure how some of them keep going unless the sponsor is ponying up a bunch or the ESPN contract is that good. The Quick Lane had tickets going for like $2, and rarely gets over 25k.

What an insane opening set of drives. Michigan offense looks inept. Michigan's defense looks quite good sacking the QB twice in a row. Alabama almost muffs a punt. Michigan muffs a punt.

Saban backing into the championship with a competent kicker is the most suffocating way possible. He has no final form. He is perpetually morphing into whatever will aggravate everyone the most.

Ok, some of you may be concerned about fellow posters health. I'm breathing again. And apologies to haters of Michigan- I do get it.

But wow. Nice to win a rare Rose Bowl. In a quite dramatic way. I really had no faith for Michigan to drive it down to tie it up- the offense was so bad in the 2nd half. Even when it should not have been- a catch here or better throw there, and they may have had a much more straightforward time to win it. And I think the offensive issues drove many of the D ones, given they didn't have much time to rest (in spite of the bragging that they swap out a lot).

What a game. Had to have been one of the best in this bowl season.
