College Football 2022: “Here’s a twenty, bury two.”

It's typically Bidness or Finance.

At Cornell there is also, famously, Hotel Administration and Agricultural Economics.
WRT ag, I know you mean that as a jab, but even as an outsider, I know Cornell has had a major impact on ag. Then again, seeing how it’s developed into a major corporate thing, maybe not always in a good way.

Here's $76mil; go away.

Texas A&M is expected to fire football coach Jimbo Fisher on Sunday morning. Fisher will be owed $76 million upon his firing, according to sources, which is a record amount of a buyout paid to a head coach. That number is more than double the known buyout paid to a fired college head coach.
This is why coaches go to SEC schools. It’s not entirely his fault this dumb contract was signed.

Just wait until Kelly gets fired from LSU.

You know what? I'm fine with it. That money is coming from rich morons. Better to fleece a lot of rich morons to give to a person whose status as a moron is still not established. Maybe he takes the money and buys a small island and a boat and lived the Buffett lifestyle. :-)

Cornell and Kansas State swap best ag school year in and year out, with Texas A&M pressing its nose against the window. I know they are a GREAT Ag school. But that greatness is the science, not the biz derp.

I think his criticism is more of the AgEn major than the Ag school. I've heard from other (ag) students that it's the major you end up in when it's junior year and you're running out of time to major in something, so you need whatever has the loosest requirements. Similar to ORIE in the engineering school.

Not to say there aren't some people in those departments who honestly want to do it and do good work, but it's well known there's a good number of people there who just want to get that degree w/in four years with something written on it.

This.

The Ag school is sacred at Cornell. I rank it as #2, after Arts & Sciences, for net positive contribution to human happiness. Indeed, those two schools are the core of the Cornell mission. The rest are there to pay some bills.

AgEc is a joke.

Just wanted to clarify... Lots of respect for Cornell and their Ag school. Idaho had an Ag Engineering degree, never looked into what that meant, but it was available.

TIL Clark Kerr, chancellor, University of California said "a successful university president provides sex for the students, parking for the faculty, and winning football for the alumni."

Dang, I could have gone there for grad school. Missed opportunity for some fun.

Top notch ornithological dept. Whilst living in New Mexico I spotted a couple of boids I'd never seen and talked to a friend that went to NMSU and he said contact Cornell.

I was going to say something about Ornithology at Cornell too. The Cornell Lab is pretty much THE place when it comes to birds. Interestingly though, it doesn't look like you can actually get a degree in ornithology but rather it would be in some more general area with your grad research focusing on ornithology. Same thing with my degree. I have a Master's in Zoology. But all of my study/focus/research was in fish nutrition and physiology.

I'm actually kind of surprised they don't have have a master's or PhD in ornithology at Cornell given how well known they are for it.
