I think that whole Fargo thing is cute. It sure as sh-t beats Long Island (awful), Boston (much worse), or the Deep South (interesting but incomprehensible and thus useless as a communication medium).

Two quick items:
1. Fargo is home to NDSU so we UND folks aren't so sure about them.
2. The movie "Fargo" happens primarily in Brainerd, MN, so that's there is a Mee-knee-soh-tah thing der, doncha-know. Handy can explain. :D

Regarding the south, three words: Wh0res of Mensa.

Bobcats giving the Broncos a game right now.

9-7 Western midway thru the 2nd.

Edit: And WMU scores less than a minute later. 16-7.

29-23. 1st conference title in 28 years. House money at this point

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Washington beats Colorado 41-10 for the Pac-12 title.

Washington should be in the CFP now.

UW makes the committee breathe a lot easier.
Maybe a bit. But if Clemson wins as well they're gonna have tough time explaining why Ohio State is in the Playoff over the actual Big Ten Champion. Or why the Pac-12 Champion got bumped in favor of two Big Ten teams.

" A bar in Gainesville is offering a clever promotion for Saturday’s Alabama-Florida SEC Championship Game (4 p.m. ET, CBS). The bar, 101 Cantina, is handing out apparently free shots of liquor whenever Florida scores — field goal, touchdown, or safety."

You too can begin the 12 steps to sobriety today.

Yeah, this.

There's a very real chance that after (hopefully) defeating the Pedophile Enabler State tonight, we will face one of two possibilities:

1. We screw Washington or Clemson out of a spot in the CFP
2. We screw Ohio State out of a spot in the CFP
3. We are "screwed" out of a CFP spot

I can live with any of those scenarios, even if it's debatable how fair 1 or (to a lesser extent) 2 are.

I'd obviously rather see the Badgers in the CFP (it's better for the program overall), but I have to think that a spot in the Rose Bowl where we would play Colorado or some such nonsense instead of getting hammerplowed by Alabama in the CFP is maybe not the worst consolation prize in the world.

All I know is that assuming the Badgers win tonight, it'll be entertaining to see Pedophile Enabler State fans whine about how they were screwed out of the CFP, because the committee is out to get them and such is the state of the grip of reality found in many a PES fan.

It might be my Seattle Sports Pessimism talking but my gut says Washington gets screwed.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Listening to what the committee members are saying, I don't see either Wisconsin or Pedo St passing Michigan. And UW just solidified being higher than Michigan.

I also don't see much of a struggle keeping the top 4 exactly the same if Clemson wins. Ohio is 2nd to them and moving them down will be harder to justify at this point.

Maybe they will have a tough time explaining why Ohio State is in over the actual Big Ten Champion, but I don't have any trouble believing it. Winning the championship should matter, but it shouldn't be determinative. In fact, I think the only rational argument for with B10 winner is that -- even if they had four losses -- they belong in solely because they're the B10 champion. And if so, the Committee should say they will only consider winners of conference championship games, not just that it "matters".

Is there any ranking system, statistical or subjective, that will have the B10 champion ranked above Ohio State (or Michigan for that matter)?

Things looking good for Boat Rowers right now.

Temple goes up 14-0 on Navy in the 1st.

A conference championship should matter, and the way to do that is to place the conference champions in the Playoff over non-champions. Otherwise a conference championship is meaningless in the discussion, and likewise the concept of the conference beyond "group of schools together for TV money."

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

To be fair though: Ohio State IS the best Big Ten team, or at least the most deserving of a playoff berth. Neither UW nor Pedo State have better cases to be made after tonight.
