College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

So they're going to leave out a potentially one loss, conference champion Washington? If there is any team that should be left out it's OSU. No conference championship, no dice.

Like i said, not what i think it should be but what i think it will be. And also why i think you'll see more cries for 8 teams. I think the committee will say the overall strength of big ten outweighs what washington did. Rather than just put ohio state in and not the conference champion, this will be their cop out. Hope i am wrong.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

My theory assuming everything goes as expected

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Washington
4. Ohio State
5. Wisconsin.

OSU's "punishment" for not being a conference champ is to play Alabama 1st.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

I could see that as well. Based on last week's rankings, i think the committee wants colorado to beat washington or Virginia tech to beat clemson. If one of those things happens, it's simple. They put two big ten teams in.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

At this point I just care about curb stomping throse pedophile enablers.

Anything after that is gravy.

We either get into the playoffs (regardless of the result, that's the best for our program) or we avoid an Alabama whooping and likely go to Pasadena as a result. Win win, I say.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

I only want a result where both Pedo State and Wisconsin lose.

I think I like the idea of Wisconsin crushing the pervs and then getting nuked by Alabama. Or another rose bowl loss would be delicious. Delicious but salty from my tears.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

What are big ten rules for bowls? Can michigan still go to rose bowl?

Can? Sure. Will? Who knows. Once the B1G champs are spoken for (lets say the winner gets into the playoffs), then the Rose Bowl can choose anyone they want to play. Same for the P12 champs.

So it could be anyone.

As far as I know, the power 5 champ bowls are all that way- they will take the champion unless the playoffs take them, then it's open to anyone. Though it's pretty common to get the traditional teams in there- like Iowa going last year when MSU was the B1G champs. So I would say that PSU and UM are the leading B1G teams to go- Wisconsin is more likely to go to the championship if they win than PSU, as I see it. Other wise, it's a choice of 3 B1G teams.

Had they just let JoPedo go into history and left alone, I would not be so hostile to Pedo state. But when they put his "restored" wins on hockey helmets- basically giving the finger to little kids (;)), all I hope is that they lose every game.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Traditionally the Rose Bowl would go to the "second place" B1G team was going to a playoff (or previously, BCS title game). The rest of the bowls usually go by some sort of ranking system, with the Outback Bowl getting the #2 (or #3 in the case of a BCS/Playoff participant, etc.) and the rest of the bowls being seeded, so to speak.

The Rose Bowl will pick the teams available that will bring the most people to the game and watch it on TV. Given the history, I would guess that means a Big Ten team and a Pac 12 team unless a bigger fish that travels well comes along. Given that the best traveling teams are typically those big midwestern powerhouses, I would guess the 2nd place team is likely it. Unless the Big Ten gets two in the playoffs. Or if there are some other weird rules that have come into play like requiring them to take a non-traditional team once every five years or some such crap.

Agreed, the committee is banking on Colorado or Virginia Tech to bail them out of the Big Ten mess. Of course if they both win by a combined 50 points they're screwed. And I'll be happy.

You'll be happy if Washington gets screwed? Wouldn't be surprised to see that, even if Clemson and Washington win big.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Conference champs have the auto-bid for the NY6 bowls. Normally the conference champion will be highest ranked anyway, but I suppose there's a chance with the Big Ten this year the conference champ will not be its highest ranked team nor highest ranked non-playoff team.

If there were a year for a non-conference champ to make it, it's this year. Assuming OSU gets in, I'd say:

Big Ten champ makes playoff: OSU and winner to playoff, Michigan to Rose, loser to Orange.
Big Ten champ out: OSU to playoff, Champ to Rose, Michigan to Orange, loser to Cotton against WMU/Navy.

To me, your second scenario is more likely. Unless there's a lot of calamity, I find it not likely that the B1G champ goes. Clemson and Washington would both have to lose. And even with that, it's not that likely that Pedo state would jump that much, as I see it.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Navy is going to pass WMU for the Cotton Bowl, even if WMU goes 13-0

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

The only question I have:

If Colorado wins, do they jump Michigan? Assuming Wisconsin loses.

I think they probably should. But I don't know what their composite SOS is.

I'd think that the Michigan's HTH win would carry a lot more weight than any other factor
