It's probably time to lay off though. Sort of like Christa McAuliffe jokes, or Bush jokes, or Michael Jackson jokes - they're cheap and they write themselves.

Pedo State's in the hopper on this for the next twenty years. Unless that whole administration's ripped stem to stern they deserve no better.

And yet somehow nobody remembers that Miami of Florida got away with a booster bankrolling the football and basketball teams and even paying a lady off to have an abortion after one of the football players got her knocked up.

Some of you who followed the computer issues thread might remember I was looking to make a Pairwise system for football earlier this summer. Well, I completed it a little while ago and figured I spent way too much time on it just to keep the results to myself, so I made a website.

College Football Pairwise

If you guys could take a look at it and offer some feedback, I would gladly welcome it. It's currently just a small side project, so I

Stuff like:
Do the explanations make sense?
Is it too much of an explanation? i.e. many other "homemade" ranking systems just say the variables they include, but not the actual formula. I like transparency and since the hockey equation is public I figure it's sort of pointless to keep it hidden, though there is a small part of me afraid that someone could just lift it and act like it's their own.

Just ignore the "headlines." Those are just placeholders that I put in to make it look busy until the season starts. I'll probably add biggest mover or match-up of the week once games are actually played.

You realize there will be jokes about that for the next 40 years, right? Getting you bent out of shape is what we're going for.

How well do you think it will work? Or put another way, have you used previous years to see how it pans out?

The sample size is so small... just seems troublesome.

Still- not going to stop the whining. :)

One conference/team will be screwed. And last year illustrated well that the "best" conferences are not the ones that will win.

Did one of their coaches rape kids? In the locker room? And have the administration sweep it under the table? No? Ok, that settles that. Pedo State is still the worst of the worst.

Bbdl hit the nail on the head sports are sports. No big deal in the big picture.

Raping children and covering it up? That is unforgivable.

Sample size is an issue I've thought of. I was going to attempt to also do the 2013 season, but it's pretty time consuming and I began to get busy around the time I finalized everything.

That would've been a great year to test. An undefeated, two 1 loss SEC teams, two 1 loss Big Ten teams, a Baylor team with one loss, and UCF and Louisville each had 1 loss while part of the American, though the American only had four winning teams so they probably would've been kept down by SOS.

It's pretty amazing how much a single game can influence the pairwise, though. At least in football where there are so few games. After remembering Army-Navy is played after the playoffs are determined I re ran the equations and there was some movement even in the top ten among teams. I think that could end up being a huge negative to this, in that the few games make it volatile. But I guess we'll see as this season progresses. It's been a fun project so far, so I'll try to keep up with it at last this year.

The next thing I want to try is basketball, but just adding 350 teams into the system is annoying to think about, let alone updating what will amount to around 10500 games. Plus I'm not entirely sure Excel can handle it the way I have it set up right now.
