College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Boise State's AD has come out and said he has offered all of the top schools a game at the top school's stadium with no requirement for a game back. It's all over the internet, it should be easy for you to find. :D Sorry, its not my responsibility to educate you when it was ALL over in the internet and the media.

If no one will play Boise State, no one can blame Boise State.

Not so fast- Nebraska has offered BSU 3 games, no response from Boise.

Some "fans" of bozo community college claim that they make more money playing UC Davis at home than a away-home-away series with NU, which I find amusing. But even if it's true, they have no real complaint about strength of schedule if they are going for money....

From a Vandal fan, I find this endlessly amusing, especially since Idaho does play Nebraska this coming season....

I'd have no problem if Boise said no thanks to that 3-game set and asked for a true home-and-home series or a home-home-neutral set instead. I think they've earned the right to a level playing field, and shouldn't have to do a 2-for-1 deal.

But they need to stop playing the "BCS schools duck us" card when they won't even make a counter offer; clearly it's all about the $$$ (see the 1.25 mil they're getting from VaTech), not the schedule.

IF they had a level playing field to offer, you would be correct. But BCC's stadium is less than half the size of the stadium in Nebraska, and the ticket prices are a lot lower.

From what I understand, BCC would net at least $600k from the 3 games with regard to the payout deal ($800k/game for BCC to go to NU, and $1M for NU to go to BCC)- not including extra prices on ticket sold.

But if they opt out of this, I'll continue to have nothing but contempt for that community college's football team. This could start a relationship with B12 teams to add to the P10 teams they already play.... You can't turn that down if you want to be taken seriously and play in the WAC.

You're a fan of the University of Idaho...people aren't exactly looking to you for an unbiased opinion of Boise State.

Well, conversely, no BCS school should be obligated to take a financial hit in order to schedule Boise State. Many have offered, and Boise has not accepted (or has tried to play them off each other to get a better deal).

So, let's not pretend that they're entirely innocent here. It's not about fairness on the field - even a poor Nebraska team carries far more financial heft than an undefeated BSU team.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Is "bozo community college" and "BCC" supposed to be clever or something?

As a graduate of the University of Idaho, yes. They are our main rival in both sports and getting money from the state- for years, they have tried to take core programs from THE orignal land grant university of the State of Idaho. So the rivalry runs pretty deep.

And they are not exactly known for their school.

Well, I'm not exactly going to go to bat claiming that they deserve part of the championship. But when they claim that nobody wants to play them, sometimes BS needs to be called out. I'll be happy to be the first, but really, I'm far from the first- just the first on the college hockey board.

I agree, which is why I said Boise needs to stop using the "BCS schools are scared of us" card.

But I don't see how Nebraska doing a home and home with Washington, Tennessee, VaTech, etc. is different financially than a home and home with Boise. The general rule for home-and-homes is that the visiting team gets their travel and lodging paid for while the home team gets to keep all gate receipts. Nebraska comes out the same financially regardless of who that home and home would be with under those circumstances.

Well, it's simple, really - they think their net gate from the game is worth more than the draw of Boise alone.

And it's not always a home team keep all thing. Nebraska just feels like they can offer Boise a payment for the unbalanced agreement, and that NU will more than make that up with the gate from their home games.

Things are also complicated with the Big 12, since they do not equally split TV revenue, and TV revenue is allotted based on a formula for how often teams are on national TV.

Anyway, it's a negotiation. BSU can counter-offer if they like.

Let me clue you in here.......when people think "high-quality education", the state of Idaho is NOT what's going to come to mind.

Yea, like I'll take that as an insult from someone going to tUMD...

Since your team had to pull out of the competition, you'll have to ask your friends from fellow WCHA schools Tech and Wisconsin how good Idaho is.

Seems to be working pretty well for me- just sayin.

In the "Midwest-Masters" category in US News and World Report, UMD is consistently ranked among the top ten public institutions. You can take it.

Well, it appears Idaho produces morons in addition to potatoes. First of all I am not "going" to UMD. Secondly, I didn't make Idaho useless. That's God's fault. And finally, you having attended a school in a state virtually nobody cares about leaves you with nothing to thump your chest about.

Ah. The reference to Yost in your location and blue being in your name led me to believe you were a Michigan graduate.

I have both. Idaho got me into Michigan's graduate school.

I follow Michigan's hockey team ever since I went to school there.

Ok, have fun with that one. Got some anger issues?

And I'm quite sure that residents of Idaho are quite happy that you think they are useless- one more person that they don't have to worry about infecting their state. :D

So, you are a Petco Bulldog, not a real one?:p

I think you meant to say he is living in his own private Idaho.;)
