Too bad for UT that Tuberville already took a job. Who's left?

Mike Leach? The Duke coach? Sheesh.

That's not a riot. It's a mass brisk jog. They look like they are training for a marathon.

Lane Kiffin has achieved the near-impossible -- making Al Davis look ethical and lucid.

Scoring the goal: CLS, unassisted, at 8:03; CLS, unassisted, at 8:03 ...

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Lane Kiffen is the epitome of "gets a job because of his daddy". He is to football what W was to politics!

I mean seriously, all the guy has done is be an assistant, he parlayed that into being head coach of the Raiders which was AT BEST a flameout, then spent a year at Tennessee where he was known more for his asinine comments than any prowess as a coach, and now he gets one of the top jobs in football. He better hope Monte never dies...

I think this is a horrible move for USC.

:D

I like how they were apparently trying to barricade him from leaving the athletic complex.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Still a better move than extending Brewster.

They havent extended him yet...and even if they do you could not be more wrong. What will happen if the Gophs extend Brew...nothing.

Keep on trying though...I come from a family that loves USC so I have no bias.

Stanford and UCLA have got to be laughing their asses off right now!

I wish Stanford was laughing, but they're not really in a position to. :(

Good times in Eugene, though, that's for sure. :p

What's the over/under on how many years between when Kiffin leaves USC and they appear in their next BCS bowl? :)

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

So Al Davis may fire Tom Cable...
Cable should be the new coach at Tennessee, and Al can hire Mora...

Will Muschamp has turned down the coaching job at Rocky Top.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

The head coach of football at Duke declined the Tennessee job.

I get the impression that the status of the Volunteers coach has diminished slightly. When the coach of that ACC powerhouse football squad in Durham rejects you...

The Duke football coach has to focus on more important things, like not losing to Richmond again.

At Duke you take above average GPA players and look like a genius if you can produce average results...at Tenn you have to compete against Saban and Meyer for the top players in the country, which will force you to do things that likely qualify you to serve forever in the fiery pits of hell (or at least risk NCAA probation every year).

Cutcliffe has already made strides at Duke, he'd be crazy to jump to the circus currently housed in Knoxville.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Tennessee is apparently hiring some guy named Derek Dooley from some place called Louisiana Tech that plays in some conference called the Western Athletic Conference despite being located somewhere in the Southeast.

Why take a job that you will get fired from in three years anyways? :D

Pretty much my thought on it as well. From what I've heard from other Vols fans, the natives are restless and it really wouldn't take much for something to come up where their current AD gets the axe, and the top candidate to replace the AD would be Fulmer, their old coach who still has a lot of clout there with the Rocky Top Faithful. Plus, lord knows what the hell Kiffin did there at Tennessee, so its a much better long term plan to wait it out a few years for the dust to settle with the leaving of that turdstorm. Let the NCAA figure out what exactly what happened, hand out their punishments, give Middle Tennessee State the Death Penalty, and then come into the job in 3 to 5 years when things are far more stable and conductive to producing results.
