College Basketball ver Do Wedzenia Krzyzewski

Went 1/4 this morning, but still have my entire sweet 16 alive. So yay?

(Almost picked Furman over Virginia, but talked myself out of it thinking Virginia couldn't choke that much yet again).

"UVA BB chokes" is getting to be a pretty detailed Wikipedia page.

(at the risk of this being Old Takes Exposed later)

ORU seemed to be a popular upset pick because of their offense. It's seven minutes in and they have no points.

Only 10/19 so far in my bracket, but still have 15/16 sweet 16 teams alive (Arizona is the one I've lost).

3rd year in a row a double-digit seed knocks out Purdue?

Extraordinary. And only the second 16 seed to win. Wow.

I was going to say that Virginia doesn't have to hold their heads so low, but they lost a bad game this year. Man.

That has to bust all of the last 20 good brackets from 2 hours ago (according to ESPN).

My far too much bracket has Alabama, Purdue, Houston, and Gonzaga.

No major upsets today but at least there have been more close games.

My no thought bracket has Alabama, Purdue, Texas, Gonzaga as final four.

I had Purdue losing to Memphis. My final four was Zona, Tenn, Texas, Kansas. With Texas over Zona for the title.

My best friend is a huge Purdue fan and graduate. He has them as either a champ or final four in all his brackets. I kept telling him it won't happen. Painter has only taken them to 1 elite 8 in all his years as coach.

FDU was 298 in kenpom. Didn't even win conference tournament. Made it only because conference tourney and regular season champs Merrimack was still in D1 transition and ineligible. They were last 4 in. They were 4-22 last season and #345 in kenpom. The NEC, the conference they are in is widely considered the worst conference out there. This may be the biggest upset ever. Bigger than UMBC over VA

More fun stats. It is the biggest upset in terms of point spread since the tournament went to 64 teams in 1985. Purdue was 23.5 point favorites. Teams favored by 23 or more were 176-1 straight up this season entering the tourney. The lone loss was when 31.5 point favorites Iowa lost to Eastern Illinois, which was the biggest upset in terms of point spread in 30 years.

Someone placed a $2100 bet on FDU at 25-1. Made $52,500.

After #15 Princeton upset #2 Arizona in the South region, one bettor at Caesar's saw a $150,000 wager on the Wildcats with the money line at -1200 disappear into thin air. The gamble would’ve cleared $12,500 in earnings.
