College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

In hindsight, was it really the best idea to let OSU's AD chair the committee while dealing with Tresselgate?

Ha, thought about that. Let's appoint the AD of one of the most corrupt athletic departments in the country!

I call BS until it actually happens. This same stupid rumor has been floating around every year since his hire. Take it for less than a grain of salt.

Didn't Tubby say just a week or so ago that he'd sign an extension here if it hit his desk?

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Fennville's run is over. They lose to Schoolcraft in the regional semifinals 86-62. Teams were a combined 45-0 coming into the game. Schoolcraft made it to the state semifinals last year and the year before that made it to the championship game where they lost to a team that later vacated the win due to using an ineligible player.

I wish it would have ended better, as I'm sure we all would have, but very few times are there endings like the movies.

I thought Arkansas was going after Mike Anderson? Wasn't he an assistant under Norm Richardson?

Just heard something interesting...

If you're a 4 seed, wouldn't you rather have been seeded 5 with the possibility of playing one of the 12 seeds that had to play/travel a couple days before?

I don't know. On its face you might, but looking at some of the big tournaments this past week, it doesn't seem like so much of an advantage. The byes in the Big East didn't help teams there all that much, with 2 of the 4 losing and SJU barely squeezing past Rutgers. Same idea in the Big Ten, where Michigan State and Penn State both knocked off two teams with byes. I think there's something to be said for hitting the ground running.

I guess the travel element adds an added wrinkle though, especially for UAB/Clemson, who play late in Dayton Tuesday and then right away at 12:15 on Thursday against WVU.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Interesting that all the play-in teams (except USC) if they win their game on Tues/Wed. get to stay East. Which means the West Regional doesn't have a play-in team in it.

I don't see why you couldn't move UAB/Clemson winner to Tulsa to play Arizona, instead of Tampa to play West Virginia. I could see the issue if anyone thought that winner would move to the Sweet 16 as that is in Anaheim. But that will not happen. Also the flight difference can't be that great, so don't tell me its due to travel.

USC will have to go to Chicago, but that isn't bad since they will already be in Dayton, OH. So its like a layover on their way home from losing to either Georgetown or Purdue.

That is a shame. I was really pulling for them. Those kids should be proud of themselves. Keep your heads up.

I turned my picks in. Didn't want to pick OSU, so I went with an upset.

Also, in my random bracket - your future NCAA Champion St. Peter's Peacocks!! Their mascot is kind of awesome. Does anyone know if he has a name?

Last year one of the randoms finished fourth overall. I'm gonna guess mine will not. :) Just looked at the other randoms so far, and my brother got Duke. He runs the pool. :p

I have Notre Dame in one bracket, North Carolina in another.

And overtime here in the opener. Not a bad way to start the Dance.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

UNC-Asheville beats Arkansas-Little Rock 81-77 in OT; will go on to play Pittsburgh in the next round.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

I'm 2-0 so far. :D

Thank God Clemson won, since I picked them to beat West Virginia. ;) Have I mentioned I hate West Virginia? More specifically, Bob Huggins? I also picked Cincinnati to lose, but that's partially because I don't think they're that great, and partially because of the stain of Bob Huggins. Funny that I let my emotions dictate those 2 picks, but I still didn't even pick my favorite team to win their first round game.

If anyone wants an Excel version of the brackets. You can save this one. I know it's safe since I made it.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Clemson/West Virginia shaping up to be a game of 8-10 point runs... Both teams are hot or cold with no in between it seems...

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

1:54 PM Central time on day 1 of the tourney and a fourth of my brackets are worthless. Thanks a lot ODU.
