College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

This is going to make cinderella runs even more improbable now.

Now, the lower seeded teams will have to play more games in less days while the higher seeds rest and have a chance to watch them live.

While this theoretically will make for "stronger" 16 seeds, who the heck cares? They are still going to get their arse kicked by the #1 seed.

I seriously can't think of the last time a dramatic change in sports was this stupid. It all comes down to money and that's all the NCAA cares about. They need to stop leading us the student-athletes mularkey and just come out and say we want the money, now go play your game.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

The NFL playoff OT change was only a week or so ago.

That's pretty much a 50/50 debate from what I've heard. Some like it, some don't.

Almost EVERYONE is against expanding the field except the people making the decisions.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

The only possible positive of 96 teams would be to have regular season conference winners get auto-bids.

Because they are far more deserving than some team that got hot and won 4 games on the last weekend of the season.

Edit: This really only applies to non BCS conferences.

Hopefully this means that the hockey tournament isn't in danger of being trimmed to a 12 team tournament.

Theres a thread in the D-1 forum that mentions hockey this would simply bring the percentage of schools making the tournament in basketball in line with hockey and lacrosse so there shouldn't be a change.

I just looked at something else, somewhat unrelated.

Duke's Coach K (* you, I'm not spelling that :p) sits with 866 wins. He's on track to pass Bobby Knight's record of 902 early to midway through the 2011-2012 season if everything continues on its current pace. With a national title this year, he'll need 34 wins next season to tie Knight. Duke is 33-5 this season right now.

Easy to do in the cakewalk that is the ACC...lets see him do that in the Big Ten :p

I just watched an interview on gameday with Butler's Brad Stevens...I thought he was a player on the team rather than the head coach.  :o

That one guy has a lot of arc in his free throws.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

And something called Butler, which given the context is likely some sort of educational institution, goes to the championship!
