Colgate 2024-25 Harder Hockey

Great road weekend!! Bill - I was told that the Good signs stand for the old Good Nature Brewing and that there will be high tops in the standing area behind the goal. Go 'gate!

Very productive weekend...looks like we've got a stud in Newmeier (sp?)...would like to congratulate both the Harvard and Dartmouth announcers over the weekend: professional and fair (I thought the Dartmouth color guy was especially good)...gotta say, when they are playing well MIH is fun to watch...

They were fun to watch this weekend ? BTW...I noticed coach Harder actually smiling and laughing with one of the players after a whistle. I think he has a good repertoire (sp) with the team ! Keep it loose !

Congrats to Bobby McMann who continues to impress with the Leafs...2 goals last night, 6 for the season with a plus 5...6'2", 210 pounds with speed and some skill...

We also noticed during our game how good the announcers were. They were interesting, too; they told some good stories. And they tweaked to some fairly subtle stuff that happened on the ice. Good job by both booths.

Unfortunately we didn't hold up our end to tire the Green out for you. Our partnership can really work well when we are both strong, hard-hitting teams, especially at home because the trip out during bad weather from New England is a PITA. I am looking forward to both teams being fierce this year and inhospitable to visitors. Good luck and see you in the first week of December.

Kepler...a necessary shout out to Coach Schafer who, as we all know, will be retiring after this year...a total class act who produces top 10 teams virtually every year and, along with Q-Pac, has his team compete well in the NCAAs year-in and year-out...he and the program were victimized TWICE by COVID: 2019-2020 when his team was ranked #2 in the nation before the season was cancelled, and secondly when IVY League
worms decided not to participate in the 2020-21 season. I, for one, remain a Cornell fan (except, of course, when the travel partners play each other)...give me a Cornell alum every time vis-a-vis Harvard, Yale and Princeton...

A 2-1 win...leading 2-0 heading into the third. Princeton came out flying in the third but we hung on. Second place two points behind first place Dartmouth, I'll take it. Not how but how many !

First, watching on ESPN+ just reinforces my opinion... John McGraw is the best!! He is just so knowledgeable, fair and prepared for every broadcast. Truly a one-man show.

Second, Mike Harder's run-n-gun style of play is truly exciting to watch, but equally nerve-wracking when we try to sit on one-goal leads in the third period. Sheesh!

Third, my fave Colgate players to watch remain Brett Chorske, Antonio Fernandez and Andrew Takacs.

Lastly, it was quite a night to watch college hockey on ESPN+ PPV. Colgate women lost in OT to Princeton, 4-3. Colgate men's win. Cornell's 3-1 loss to a very tough Quinnipiac. Brown's unbelievable goal with .5-second left in regulation to beat Clarkson, 1-0. And, finally, now watching App State going down to UNC-Charlotte, 4-1, in an outdoor game... which is CLUB hockey. Crazy!!

Was at the game tonight. I thought we played a pretty bad game and were very fortunate to get 3 points. Our passing was terrible and we were very careless with the puck which led to turnovers, one of which Princeton scored on. Takacs was our best player tonight.

If we play like that tomorrow QPac will smoke us.

The passing on that first goal was surreal. Chorske is a workhorse. A good night in goal, but not sold on him in the least.

I watched Q-Pac beat Cornell and they looked very good to me, as Magoo said above, we better play a much better game tonight or it could get ugly. Still happy with the win though.

I agree 100%. He does it without a color commentator and when he was calling games on the radio, “painted the picture” very well. But watching through ESPN+ last night his voice sounded very muted. I had to turn the volume up on my TV then at a commercial turn the volume back down. Switching to a different game had more “normal” audio.

I’ll take a competitive, 1 goal win over a blowout win any day. It keeps the players sharp, focused, and they learn from their mistakes. It looked like we were hanging on for dear life for parts of the 3rd period but Princeton was doing what any team trailing in the 3rd period does - play with a sense of urgency. By the way, the jerseys that Princeton wore last night were just weird. Just the player’s number on the front, no “Princeton” text or school logo.

After the ‘Gate game concluded, I switched to the Brown-Clarkson game - Brown scored with 0.5 seconds left, resulting in a zero-point knight for Clarkson when they were half a second away from earning at least 1 point. This could loom large come playoff seeding time.

I believe the kids are on break, but your point is well taken...our "butterflies" are too involved in saving the planet than supporting our student athletes...it's certainly a plague affecting the Northeast...BTW both Chorske and Fernandez are pick-ups from Colorado College, a fine academic institution in its own right, where a transfer to Colgate makes sense...they tend to make up for CC "stealing" Noah Laba from us 2 1/2 years ago...

My son’s high school team has twice as more fans at home games. WHY DO WE LET SUCH A MEDIOCRE PROGRAM BEST US????? Now we lose our best defensemen to your STRUB IRRELEVANT PROGRAM

Kids are on break. But also for perspective... we've got 3,000 (roughly) students. 56% are female, 25% are varsity athletes (who support the other teams when they can, but that can't be all the time), 9% are foreign. Lots of others play club sports, some of which (rugby, hockey) require almost as much time as varsity sports. My point is, how many "butterflies" are realistically available to pack the arena? I wish more students would show up, but I also think we all sound pretty old bitching about it.

By the way, I'm guilty tonight as well... watching on TV in Hamilton vs. getting to the arena in person!

what a joke…..I feel like we lost to a club team. You’re a like a home wrecker mistress. You are a mediocre program whose whole season is measured on how you play us. EMBARRASSING LOSING TO YOUR SCRUB TEAM!! with ZERO NHL draft picks. Can you imagine North Dakota or Minnesota coming to your barn in front of 16 fans? They get 15,000 fans at their games. Quinny needs to go to Hockey East. This is ridiculous.
ECAC no longer deserves QU. Merrimack and Quinny need to exchange conferences.

Get lost Icecat.

I thought it was a good game between 2 evenly matched teams. We played a lot better than we did last night or else we would have lost. Killing the 5 minute major was huge.

Takacs again played very well and came up huge in OT.

I don’t know if the NCAA keeps this stat but we must lead the nation in hitting posts.
