Word is that Canada's Gina Kingsbury is set to become the new assistant coach at UMD.. Not sure when that official announcement will be made. They're in the middle of their girl's hockey camp now so maybe after this weekend? Players report back in mid-August so you would expect it to be no later than that

At hockey camp registration last night the coaches (student athletes) were talking about this and that she'll be in Duluth next week.

Last I heard he was looking for something closer to home with a little more support for hockey. With Salve's limited resources, it will be interesting to see if they can remain a consistent competitor under McCann or whether the program will return to the dumpster fire it was prior to Cox's arrival. Hiring a club coach doesn't exactly send a message that competiveness is all that important but McCann had some significant success at URI so it just might work.

Rumor has it that Cox had no choice and was forced to resign from his coaching position at Salve. From what I have heard the players along with many of the parents are thrilled to see him leave. I guess there were many underlying issues.

McCann is indeed the new head coach at slave.
