Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

Re: Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

Heard today that he has 18 skaters and possibly one or two goalies. The school is making accomidations for late transfers to support the team. :)

It is great that Chatham is making accommodations for girls to transfer in late in the game, but that begs the question of whether these girls will stick at Chatham. It is all female college and most women either prefer the idea or want nothing to do with it. You wonder why these transferees (unless they came from St. Kates) didn't apply there in the first place, if they wanted an all female college.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that they are trying to pull the team back from the brink of disaster, but they had better get on the recruiting ball in the next year, as I suspect the turnover is far from done.

Girls have always been able to transfer into/get accepted into Chatham this late in the process. They don't have a set admittance date.

Anything Chatham is doing to "pull a team together" is only a result of their own negligence and mismanagement of their own program over the last 5 months.

I agree that this firedrill is all about mismanagment. My point was more that these last-minute recruits are more committed to playing hockey than they are to Chatham and are more likely to find themselves dissatisfied with their overall experience and subsequently leaving Chatham than someone who applied during the fall because they think that an women's college is something they highly value, especially one with a hockey team.

So is your daughter still enrolled there?

Say what you would like about the new coach and his lack of 'real' college experience...Evans is a huge improvement. Maybe Chatty will never be able to recruit blue chippers for hockey - this guy will have them playing to the best of their abilities. I hope he turns it around there.

Knowingly stepping into the situation that Chatham has developed into....I'm not so sure they shouldn't pin the Silver Star on this guy...

I wish him all the luck in the world and also hope he can turn the program around.

Re: Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

That Silver Star comment doesn't belong in a sports page. It was probably spoken by someone who has no idea what the Silver Star stands for or why it is awarded. This is just more of the "it was war out there" comments that do not belong in sports! Civilians especially Canadian and US ones have no idea what war involves even though many have read countless books or seen numerous movies about war.

Time to re-focus this thread again. It is always very easy to start your own thread for your own topics.

It was a metaphor you moron...better climb back in your foxhole.

Ohio State has hired former SLU Saint Alison Domenico as a assistant coach

Syracuse has hired former SLU Saint Sabrina Harbec as an assistant coach.

Did I see that a 3rd former Saint had recently taken a coaching position or was I mistaken ?

Does anyone know where Syracuse's former AC Graham Thomas went?

The new assisstant at Brown, Meaghan Guckian, is also a former Saint. Not sure if that is the one you would be referring to.

IIRC, Chelsea Grills is also coaching somewhere.

Yes, that was it. Thankyou. Shannon Desrociers is another SLU alum currently Co-Headcoach at Clarkson

Re: Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

Some MIAC teams need to announce their assistant coaches. Not sure what Augsburg has planned, Concordia has the same assistant coach? Hamline has former Gopher Rachel Drazen listed, is Bethel bringing in anyone new with the promotion of Carlson? St. Mary's also lost their assistant coach.
Lots of openings that need to be filled/announced soon.

Re: Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

Cortland has an un-announced vacancy and Williams and Neumann need head coaches.

Re: Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

Does anyone know who is leaving/being replaced at Cortland? Just curious.....
