Karen Thatcher Named Assistant Women's Ice Hockey Coach

Aug. 20, 2010

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's Ice hockey coach Bob Deraney announced today (August 19) that Karen Thatcher has been named assistant coach. Thatcher most recently competed in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where she helped Team USA claim the silver medal. Thatcher replaces Meredith Roth, who resigned earlier this month to pursue other opportunities.

.

So where did Meredith Roth go? She is up in Toronto watching the U22 series this week.

I hate rumours... but Williams could have just hit a home run, like yard!

...any noise out there?

Great call with this rumor!

If Thomas is a homerun, and PNC is a loop single, what would this hire be?
Sacrifice bunt?

I would've thought the "best" school in America would have a deeper talent pool than that.

No argument from me...but I`m not sure we have heard the last of it.

Who`s Thomas and why are they a homerun...

I was referring to your posts.

You first posted about the whereabouts of SU coach Graham Thomas. Your very next post was starting a rumor that Williams might have hit a homerun with a new coach.
I figured you were talking about Thomas going to Williams.

Turns out you were just starting rumors.

If you were naive enough to think that I was talking about Thomas going to Williams because the two posts were consecutive then I would suggest you ``figured`` wrong and it is you that is starting the rumors.

Graham is from Calgary and a new assistant coach was hired by the Orange. I was wondering if he retained his position or was moving on.

Seeing that you know everything about everyone, everywhere I "figured" you were starting a reliable rumor about your hometown boy.

So who was was the homerun reference about?

That's the problem with "Figuring".

I don't start rumors in fact if you go back to my original post you will see that I actually "hate" rumors.

Stay tuned...

Williams keeps shooting themselves in the foot the administration seem to be their own worst enemies. I wish Coach Lye the best of luck and hope that the administration can figure out when they want a serious program again.

Williams has announced the appointment of Joey Lye '09 as interim head women's ice hockey coach:

Best of luck to Joey and the Ephs for the coming season!

I once talked to a few folks about this school and what its attraction was, and the response was "If you can get your kid into Williams, do it no matter the cost, it is worth it". This is a school with an outstanding academic reputation. Are they not tops in the Forbes list for something ?. Just saying.....their priorities might be different from yours for a reason.

Anyone know when they are putting in a program? Job description requires DIII experience...possibly for 2011-2012 season?

Maura Crowell, of UMass Boston womens hockey team, will be leaving the team to become an assistant coach at Harvard.

I have no idea what a either Fragrance or the Car Of The Year has to do with any of this?

Dunno about Car, but different posts have various Fragrance reminders...... Some are fishy...Some are ****ty.....Some are.....You fill in the blanks.... :D

If all of the Williams athletic teams were mediocre I would agree with this comment. However, Williams is always among the top 2-3 schools in the Director's Cup rankings, based upon overall acheivement by their teams in D-III competition. Why Williams is so strong in athletics yet their women's hockey team is mired in mediocrity is a valid question.
