Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA
Very understandable.I was too busy with a pint of Smithwicks to look out the window.

Yeah!!!! Hardly, that last thing I am going to have is a life like three dimensional likeness of you in my closet.Like you don't? I heard about the little diorama-like shrine that you built to me in your bedroom closet.

The only thing left of the WCHA will be the name. Most of the current WCHA will be the NCHC, and most of the new WCHA will be the CCHA.Maybe I should reverse the name of the thread. If Bowling Green joins, that's 5 from the CCHA and 4 from the WCHA.
Now that we have a better idea of who will be in the WCHA. Who will be the first new team to win the McNaughton Cup?
well I would guess 2013-14, MTU, NMU, BSU, UAA and UAF are the likely candidates but 2 of those have on it before...and so has Bowling Green. The way this off-season has gone ... Probably an unnamed team who is not at all in the mix to join the WCHA as of today.

I think we might last as long as five years, but I'd be very surprised if it goes any longer. I know too many regulars who already haven't renewed for this year because they think the program is a "dead man walking," and others who have told me they definitely won't renew for the "new WCHA."Will the Mavs have a team by then?![]()
BGSU has been given extension until October 7th on making a decision whether or not to join the WCHA. The need for an extension leads me to believe that they are seriously considering folding their program. Unfortunately, I don't if remorse will be able to overcome the NCHC's ego if college hockey loses a former champion.
You're going to blame Bowling Green on the NCHC too? How?
You think they would've been better off in a post-Big 10 CCHA? They were already struggling, and that conference wouldn't have left them much of a lifeline either.
Um, they ultimately destabilized the conferences that caused BGSU to reconsider their commitment to their program due to being relegated to a weaker conference.

IF the WCHA and CCHA stood firm as they were without the B1G schools it is quite obvious that the new WCHA is weaker than the post-B1G CCHA. No Notre Dame, no Miami...where is there a program left in the new WCHA that has current success of those 2? Sure BSU has been to the F4 and NMU has made the tournament but thats it.So you think the new-WCHA is weaker even than the post-Big 10 CCHA?
I think you've bought into the "NCHC is picking off all of the 'elite' programs" kool aid more than I have.
What other reason could there be for this extension?Be sure not to tell the falcon fans since they aren't even considering that as a possibility.
