Canadian National Team

Re: Canadian National Team

The Experience Factor: Canada returns 14 Olympic veterans...USA returns 5.
I'll concede that the Canadians have more experience, but it looks like Americans can count better.;) My guess is that Sweden will have more Olympic experience than the US. More talent, more experience, home-ice -- it looks like the rest of the world is just playing for the honor of watching Canada celebrate their gold medal from ice level.

Re: Canadian National Team

Seymore and Five for Fighting actually agree on something when it comes to Olympics:eek: :D

Too bad the good ole US of A is going to have to steal your thunder on the men's and women's sides in Vancouver:D ;)

(PS: remember where your D's got/or are getting their education  )

We're getting the education in return for a better hockey player. Sounds fair. Thanks.

Ahh, the old lay-low underdog routine ?

Re: Canadian National Team

Who clubs baby seals anyway? I'm confused. Are they referring to our competition come February or what? That's not nice....... onmaa be careful with this one please. Go Canada!

Hey don't get me involved in that subject. Staying clear !

Just making sure everbody down there is on their toe's....Thanks, edited my previous post.

Re: Canadian National Team

Not everybody clubs baby seals either...but we seem to have a reputation for that as well. :)

Clubs haven't been use to kill seals for years.

We have the team to win it all...but as for a coach...well, that's a whole different kettle of fish. It'll be the great equalizer. MD just doesn't have it!

HC, as usual, never ices the best talent, but makes sure Canada has fair represntation from across the country. Too bad. If we went on sheer talent, nobody'd touch us.

Politics...another equalizer!

I have never seesn anyone from Atlantic Canada on the Women's World or Olympic roster.

TC does not really have regional representation. IMHO they picked what was in their mind the best team....

8 from Ontario, 7 from Quebec, 6 from out west, None from out east.

So lets break it down:

Tenders....Tossup
Defense....Canada
Forwards...Tossup
Coaching...USA

So there you have it 1-1-2 out of the gate. Gonna be a great next 69 days (52 for the runup, 17 for the main event).

Re: Canadian National Team

I have never seen anyone from Atlantic Canada on the Women's World or Olympic roster.

I can see that changing over the next 4 years. The current TC U22 roster has two Atlantic Canada players on it. Even more promising are two of the Atlantic Canada players on the current TC U18 roster. I see one of them as a major contributor on that team.

Stacey Wilson of New Brunswick played on several NWT’s in the 1990’s and was captain of the 1998 Olympic Team in Nagano

OnMAA, I am hoping you are correct in your comments, for future of Atlantic Canada players

OMG yes I forgot about her lol :)

OnMAA you are right. Sarah Davis who is goin to play at Minnesota is from about 10 minutes drive from where I live. She will most likely play for Team Canada some day.

I was thinking more about the Nova Scotia Girl that plays for the Aeros.

HC does NOT pick the best players. Just ask Angela James...

AND

Ontario and Quebec could both ice teams that would medal in the Olympics. And I bet Ontario could ice two teams that would medal.;)

There's a little bit of tune-up to get us ready for the Olympics with the World Juniors starting the day after Christmas. I looked forward to this tournament every year as I feel it has some of the best passion, speed, and atmosphere you can find for hockey.

Last year's USA/Canada game in Ottawa was unreal. The noise coming out of the building when Cananda rallied back from three down was ridiculous.

I wish the outcome was opposite but I still know when to appreciate a good hockey game and that game last year was certainly one of the best examples of hockey at its purest form.

Yep one of the best and most passionate hockey you will see. All games are broadcast live on TSN in Canada, and they talk about it daily up here on the various shows :)

Re: Canadian National Team

Fellow Canadians and Canadian wannabe's: I'm going to throw this out there.... seems to me that we may want to discuss all Team Canada Related issues on this thread through February. T'is the Season. World Juniors (Saskatoon SK) Women's Ice Hockey (Vancouver B.C. - Olympics}, Men's Ice Hockey (Vancouver B.C. - Olypmics), Men's Sledge Hockey (Vancouver B.C. - Paralympics) along with a bevy of other Olympic winter sports that we should be better at....

All in favour....say Go Canada Go!

If Ringette was ever considered to be an Olympic Sport.....We'd be Golden!
