Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

Yes. I don't think it'll get to him though. The Democrats will stall it in the Senate, throw back the GOP leaders' tactics in their faces.

Again...I hope you are right. I want to believe that nothing will get done but I just cant yet. I want you to be right though :)

That is going to be a very interesting dynamic to watch play out. The Rs that were #NeverTrump are going to have a very interesting time.
Yep. Because of they remain #NeverTrump, they're out in two years or four years. They'll fall in line to save their political careers.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

Opinion? It's pretty much a foregone conclusion. Don't you remember when Trump picked Pence, there was a story out that he asked John Kasich first and that one of Trump's sons told him he could be the most powerful vice president ever? And Kasich asked the son "Then what will your father be doing?" and the son replied "Making America great." He's never wanted to do this work..

work?

executives lead. they don't do any "work". what are you trying to say a president should be doing that you feel tD won't?

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

This is what bothers me most. The Republicans speaking today of the Trump win keep mentioning that "the public hated the direction they were going and wanted to change course."

Really? Low unemployment, low oil prices, and a robust economy is a direction the American people hated?

Well you saw what SteveP posted about how Trudeau is Obama-Lite so we should not want to go there.

Obama has the country running better than Romney promised to have it...yet apparently it is the 7th circle of hell cause...reasons.

I think Van Jones nailed it last night...

They hated Hillary. The name "CLINTON" lost this election; 25 years of phony Republican scandals finally stuck.

Awesome, isn't it?

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

As long as Trump just plays along with what the rest of the Establishment GOP wants, why risk angering Trump supporters and firing up the Democratic Party?

When it happens, I called it. ;)

:D

To play along though, once they had the power, why would they care about Trump supporters? Especially if Trump appears guilty of something.

7 million fewer Dems voted compared to 2012. I don't think anyone really recognized how significant the enthusiasm gap was. It wasn't accounted for in any of the polls. Its clear that ground game wasn't the deciding factor. We had a midterm electorate in a presidential election.

That is because Hillary was a not inspiring candidate.

Who was it on here that told me that being inspiring was not required for someone to be a good candidate?

I'm ****ed at the Democratic Party as a whole for not coming up with a better candidate.

Well, I'm done caring about their issues.

But, I will continue to vote D every ticket till I die. Why? Because the other side is undefendable.

That's my quandary.

Hillary = Tom Dewey??

Outside of Hillary (or landslide Joe), who was out there?

The Party doesnt just select people at whim (no matter the conspiracy theory) she got more votes than Bernie and no one else wanted to run. Again the blame resides with the people. They made the choice...

Shouldn't you be ****ed at the Libertarian Party for not coming up with a better candidate? I distinctly recall you singing the praises of Gary Johnson repeatedly.

Where's Aleppo boy? Not his fault. Blacks didn't vote for Hillary. Hispanics didn't vote for Hillary. Women didn't vote for Hillary. I knew my demographic was lost and stupid but I hoped for the others.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

Only if he gets to replace RBG, Breyer, or Kennedy in addition to Scalia. Kennedy's vote on the Texas abortion case signals he's not going to overturn Roe anytime soon.

He'll get two appt's.

RBG is 83, Breyer is 78, Kennedy is 80. And Scalia is gone (at 79).
That's legitimately four potential slots for Pres. Trump to name.

Scoob, if the over/under is 2, I'm taking the over.

Now, just a poke (meaning I'm kidding): Cruz, Christie, Sessions, and ...

Fine with me. Either way Roe is overturned and Citizen's United stays the law of the land. I think I remember reading that they revolted in Poland when they tried outlawing abortion there. Here it should go out like a whimper, cause, frankly that's what everyone just voted for.

I must've heard 100 times that the Clintons are fighters who bring bazookas to knife fights. Gotta remember to take the safety off, I guess. :(
Not in that sense. It's more about banding together and showing up every election. Republicans have been doing that for decades and it's why the country is where it is now. Democrats have to come together and come up with unified platform and go to work at every level of government, in every state. We're at war, it's time to raise an army and fight.

53% of White Women Voted For Trump

How is that even possible? I dont even have an anecdote for that it is just nuts. It is one thing to vote against the woman, that happens. But to choose a guy who, in the best light de-humanizes women and in the worst light assaults/rapes them over a woman? Screw off!

Woman in my family doesn't think that women should/can be President. It's baked into the culture.
