Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

Pence is also the VP-Elect and not the President-Elect, so he's effectively been neutered. Something tells me that Trump is all in favor of contraception and may have - once or twice - used it during his time on Earth.

And the Legislative Branch...you know the guys who think science is a hoax?

Drumpf ran on Anti-Abortion...you dont think he will defund Planned Parenthood?

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

For the first time in 20, maybe 30, years I am really looking forward to SNL this week. They couldn't really have better material.

I was getting posts from various entertainment sites on my Facebook feed thanking America for four years of great comedy to come.

Drumpf ran on getting elected. His victory speech has already shown that what he said on the campaign trail and how he will govern (for now claims) are not one and the same.

Well history shows where the GOP stands on this and what they do when they can...unlike guns where no one ever actually tried to take them.

And dont you dare say he isnt The GOP because he is. He is their nominee, and they voted for him at like a 90% clip.

Most run to the middle and then govern to the edge.

You're saying Trump ran to the edge but will govern to the middle?

More evidence of a completely upside-down political season.

Maybe so. But Trump will eagerly make that trade-off with the fundicons if it lets him get something he wants. He's a negotiator!

If they actually pull that off (defunding planned parenthood by name), that will make for an interesting lawsuit. Because that sure sounds like a Bill of Attainder, even though it wouldn't be a criminal law.

I also think Trump is looking at the long-term health of his personal brand - the businessman in him won't be put to pasture. He can't radicalize his actions in office because that would scare away even more customers than has already happened. He's going to spend as much time in office trying to repair his image with the entire population as he is governing the country because his ego won't let his true priority - his most important baby - go to ruin because of his political distraction.

Planned Parenthood will lose their Federal Funding. That's the funding that went to the free health services they offered the poor. It never paid for an abortion. Roe vs. Wade will be overturned before his term is up.

And the beauty of it all is I don't care. Women voted him into office along with the rest of the Reds.

Roe vs. Wade will be overturned before his term is up.

Only if he gets to replace RBG, Breyer, or Kennedy in addition to Scalia. Kennedy's vote on the Texas abortion case signals he's not going to overturn Roe anytime soon.

I could be wrong but I don't think he'll get mixed up in rubbish like that. He is much more pragmatic than people give him credit for and he doesn't hold a lot of the traditional republican social views.

So when the GOP Congress sends him that bill, you think he's going to veto it?

Yes. I don't think it'll get to him though. The Democrats will stall it in the Senate, throw back the GOP leaders' tactics in their faces.

I think he will have a fairly firm grip on Congress and they won't be wasting their time on that nonsense. They need to get on with the country's business and not waste time on battles that were fought long ago.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

This is war. The Right has been preparing and fighting for years, decades really. For the Left it's time to organize and fight, not sit around b* for four years. It's war, our ideals and way of life are under siege, it's time to band together and fight.
I must've heard 100 times that the Clintons are fighters who bring bazookas to knife fights. Gotta remember to take the safety off, I guess. :(

LOL. You have so much to learn.

He might not, but Pence will push for it. And since he will be the one pretty much running things, I think it will totally happen.

Bush left the country much worse off than his predecessor had. Obama left things much better off.
This is what bothers me most. The Republicans speaking today of the Trump win keep mentioning that "the public hated the direction they were going and wanted to change course."

Really? Low unemployment, low oil prices, and a robust economy is a direction the American people hated?

Lol, he's not the prime minister. Congress is its own beast and they will send a ton of shiat to him.
