(1) Didn't Reagan's Tax Reform pass through a completely Democratic Congress?
(2) Didn't JFK cut the top rate from 90% tp 70%?

(1) No.

(2) 70% isn't 30%.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIII: Clinton destrueretur est. Trump est destruetur. Vox Pop

(1) No.

(2) 70% isn't 30%.

1981 went to 50%. 1986 went to 28% with the following consequences:
he Tax Reform Act of 1986 was given impetus by a detailed tax-simplification proposal from President Reagan's Treasury Department, and was designed to be tax-revenue neutral because Reagan stated that he would veto any bill that was not. Revenue neutrality was targeted by decreasing individual income tax rates, eliminating $30 billion annually in loopholes, while increasing corporate taxes, capital gains taxes, and miscellaneous excises. The act raised overall revenue by $54.9 billion in the first fiscal year after enactment.

GOP held the Senate from 1981 to 1987. Always amazed me how Goopers completely and conveniently "forget" about that...
So democrats in the house still passed reagans tax reforms
California Uber alles, "making money for President Reagan and all the friends of President Reagan" great song by the Dead Kennedys

Shocked I say, that attendees can't bring guns into the GOP convention. Aren't they supposed to make everyone safer?

There's a good reason why: State of Ohio laws.

Quicken Loans arena is part of the Gateway Sports and Entertainment Complex. The complex is owned by the city and is managed by the Gateway Economic Development Corporation of Greater Cleveland. The organization's board members are appointed by county and city leaders.

In Ohio, "the law sets forth several places where your license does not allow you to carry a handgun. Under the law, you may not carry a concealed handgun into the following places: ... Government facilities that are not used primarily as a shelter, restroom, parking facility for motor vehicles, or rest facility and are not a courthouse or a building or structure in which a courtroom is located."

A city owned building is by definition a government facility. Thus, no guns in Quicken Loans Arena.

Put another way, the City of Cleveland and State of Ohio has put the Republican convention into a "gun free zone". (Like that spin better?)

Attacks on Muslims across the country as Trump rhetoric puts them in ‘the line of fire,’ congressman says

It's only a matter of time before we bring back internment camps and an updated form of McCarthyism. The level of ignorance being spewed from the Trump campaign being gobbled up hook, line and sinker is equal parts depressing and disgusting. I never wanted to find myself going to bat for Hillary and I will still vote Gary, but if this is what it takes to keep that lunatic from the White House then so be it:

The most thorough, profound and moving defense of Hillary Clinton I have ever seen.

Trump may or may not be a racist or a bigot. Every day though I am more and more convinced that an alarmingly high percentage of his supporters are racists and bigots. His latest pulled advertisement was no accident.

I have voted for both Republican and Democratic candidates for president. I've often defended the Republican party to my left leaning friends and co-workers who have made knee-jerk accusations about the party being the party of discrimination. I don't believe Mitt Romney, John McCain or any of the Bush family to be racist or bigoted. But it's different this time around.

Hillary Clinton's shortcomings are commonplace among far too many politicians. Finding one who is completely honest, and always acts in a 100% completely ethical manner is probably impossible. There hasn't been a president in the history of the republic that hasn't told bald-faced lies to the American public, either as a candidate or as commander-in-chief. But I think bigotry is an ultimate sin and a totally disqualifying trait for anyone who wants to be president. And I do not differentiate between holding the beliefs yourself, or pandering to those who do

I've distilled supporters of Donald Trump into one overall category. Its people who want to go back to a time when you could freely use any of the hundreds of derogatory slang terms for blacks, Hispanics, gays, etc with no fear of reprisal. In this day and age conservatives are STILL sending out messages equating Obama to a monkey, and then they're stunned when they get a negative reaction.

Trump's appeal is saying things no longer said by public figures. The Megyn Kelly incident being a good example. Its not too much more complicated like that, which is why his appeal is made up of like 99% of old white guys.

Funny thing is, many of those same are starting to realize that Trump has no chance with his baffoonery. Oh, they'll bluster, but I didn't have any takers, not one, yesterday when I offered to bet $50 with anybody willing to take Trump for the November win (I get the field).

Proves again: talk's cheap, takes money to buy whiskey.

That's when I started to explain why I'm going Johnson/Weld.

This is a sentiment I've heard from several conservative friends. Eloquently stated, too.
