Not surprising to see that Idaho is one of only a few deep red states. Northern Idaho has to be his most secure constituency.

btw: I don't watch Fox News. What are they doing with Trump now?

Idaho is glorious to drive through (at least the part I did) but I would never get out of my car. I mean they have a city that is the White Supremacist Capitol of America :/

Only part of northern Idaho is white supremacy country, it's also home to the most democratic zone of the state. Coeur d'Alene is more liberal than you think thanks to a lot of SoCal people who have homes there.

Most of the red is Mormon country in the southern part.

When I was a kid, my family often spent summer camping vacations in the Bitterroot Mountains west of Missoula. Awesome beauty even a kid of 9 could appreciate. Ivan Doig's wonderful novels capture some of the drama and beauty of the high country north of Missoula on the Montana side.

But in northern Idaho, amid all that natural beauty, is a festering boil of hatred. Hopefully, as alfa suggests, its size and significance is overblown.

Coeur d'Alene is right next to Spokane, a place so notoriously nuts it's called Spokanistan.

When I lived in Seattle they called Spokane Spokompton :D

This surprises me a lot, as Spokane also has a big LGBT community and an eclectic, educated, liberal population. And of a course a big hockey community, which is what really matters.

It also has a pretty high crime rate from what I always heard. In fact most people who were driving though there never stopped or at least never said they did.

But the area that most are thinking of is still north of there. Like north of Sandpoint.

I know my time in Moscow was long ago, but the area hasn't changed that much. It's closer to the remote areas near Canada that are really odd.

It's also infested with people who have moved from various rural areas with meth addictions. That plus general animosity towards Seattle tends to lead to prime Trump territory.

Their violent crime rate is pretty average for the size of the city, but they've got a super high property crime rate due to the aforementioned meth heads and an over-stretched police department.

College towns with slums have notoriously insane property crime rates. Spokane is home to the Gonzaga basketball team that is loosely affiliated with a college.

If white college graduates vote for Hillary it will be the first time in 60 ears that this vote has not been won by the Republican nominee. That's like the Brooklyn Dodgers finally beating the Yankees in 1955.

I also realize historically and statistically this is true, but it seems counter-intuitive to me that having two candidates so widely disliked -- hated even by a good portion of the electorate -- would drive MORE people to the polls.
