Not sure why your panties are in a bunch here Kep. I was commenting on the right's never ending belief in conspiracy theories. :confused: Have you had your morning coffee yet?

Regardless, smart move out of a man I admit I'd long dismissed as being senile. He won me over with this endorsement of Hillary's health care plan. In the ACA there's already a provision for the public option. It just have to be done on a state level instead of a national one. Also her early Medicare buy in makes sense as it should ease pressure on the system (55 year olds tend to be healthier than 80 year olds). Sanders willingness to jump on board with this instead of single payer NOW means a lot.

I took it as snark about Bernie supporters even at the moment that Bernie concedes. I misunderstood you and I apologize.

I should probably drink coffee. But it tastes like coffee, and coffee tastes like sh-t.

No worries. All's well that ends well and now that Sanders has done the right thing he can hopefully join with the Warrens and Frankens of the Senate to push through some of this platform agenda which frankly seems pretty doable. There's nothing pie in the sky in there from what I've read so far.

Strictly a geographic pick? He seems like a pretty typical GOP governor, except he comes from the heart of the Midwest - a state or two from Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. All states that are on or close to Trump's must win list.

If we can take the Senate, Schumer and Booker are going to have their hands full distracting Warren, Sanders, Franken, Feingold et al. while they fellate Wall Street.

Little by little we can move the Democratic Congressional delegation back to the left. If we can hold the White House the first left-leaning Court majority in 40 years will allow "liberal" (read: sane) legislation like campaign finance reform and gun control to survive the judiciary. We are poised to get something done even before we get the opportunity to undo the gerrymandering damage of 2010.

I still think a GOP House can sabotage things, but at least a Democratic Senate with an aggressive leadership can quickly fill these 89 open slots. I hope Hillary learned from Obama's mistakes and has a full slate vetted and ready to launch en banc on January 20, 2017. Since we will likely lose the Senate again in 2018 every day of those first two years has to be run as a 40 minutes of hell offense.

It would be nice to fix the FEC, but I'm not sure how to do that without setting a partisanship precedent that a future GOP would be sure to abuse.

I think that plus he's an actual career pol rather than a freak show choice. It seems like a perfectly reasonable choice to me, though I'd have gone with Kasich.

Sure. Kasich is a much, much (, much) better pick. Except that the right fringe's concern that Trump is a pocket Democrat would be validated...that and oh the fact that Kasich would never accept.

The optics are terrible too. Lets put on the ticket of a crabby old white guy.....ANOTHER crabby old white guy! That outta work.

Trump can do two things IMHO. 1) Pick Gingrich who's also terrible optics (6 marriages on 1 ticket! That's only two more than Rush Limbaugh. :D) but who reassures big money donors and Congressional Republicans that he'll keep an eye on the Trumpster, or 2) Take some bitter ex-General in order to bolster the dwindling and previously neutered ranks of neo-cons that are still clinging to the Republican party. Yes, they're an endangered species but remember Trump's campaign is all about restoring 1950's or at least 1980's values to the Presidency. It would be another ploy to max out the older white male vote.

Given that Kasich won't even attend the party convention...IN HIS OWN STATE, I'm not sure why people keep bringing him up.

I don't give a **** how left they are. They can stay centrist for all I care. Confirming a new SC Justice, fixing corruption, passing even a token piece of gun legislation, establishing a more rigid system for districting that removes the influence of the people elected in said districts (or their political party co-conspirators)... none of those things require any specific grade of liberalism. It just might require a certain level of refusing to whore our government out to the highest bidder. Hillary won't help set the tone in that regard, but it's still better than the three ring circus that would come with the alternative.

Just listened to Kasich's speech suspending his campaign. Very genuine guy who talked the whole time about how he was so thankful to be touched by so many American individuals throughout the campaign. That was all. I have little doubt he had the potential to be a great Republican throwback president in the vein of Eisenhower.

Why do you think Kasich won't attend? The right incentive will always change a pol's mind. Look at how Rubio used Orlando to launch his bid after swearing a thousand times he wouldn't.

Pols are inanimate objects that are set in motion by external forces. Just apply the correct force along the correct vector to get the desired result.

Remember: sincerity was Dubya's gambit, too. It's just another ploy. In a way I prefer Hillary's unvarnished ambition. Così fan tutte.
