Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Big fan of Uncle Joe (Biden that is, not Stalin ;)) however I don't see what he gives you different from Hillary policy or experience wise.

Beyond that, basing it on vote totals (yes, yes I know we don't decide elections that way, but bear with me) if Obama won by 5M votes when unemployement was 8% and we were in year 6 of a downturn, plus you're looking at a net vote swing of probably 3M towards Dem leans, that's an 8M vote cusion to win in 2016. Meaning 8M people need to stay home next year for the GOP to hit parity. Not impossible, but that's asking a lot. Its not like the GOP has made any moves to appeal to the growing segments of the electorate, so its hoping for a mid-term turnout in a Presidential year. Has that ever happened?

Biden is Hillary without the historic first but also without risk of implosion. He running would also allow her to open up a little distance with the administration on domestic policy if she wanted to.

I'd rather O'Malley as the fall back. Biden in the Senate was a hawk on defense. Also this whole Beau deathbed thing smacks of malarkey.

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Yep. Minneapolis' population and it's unions lean blue carrying Minnesota. Along with Detroit/Michigan, Chicago/Illinois. The suburbs of all those areas go bright red, which is how the local congressmen/representatives can be Repub while the state "votes" Dem for the president.

The population of MPLS is now a fraction of the state. I don't know which way the inner rings however (Robinsdale, Cyrtal, Richfield, SLP, etc) may lean.

All those suburbs went D along with Edina, Minnetonka, Bloomington, Blaine, Woodbury, Plymouth, etc. in the last two elections...in fact, 9 of the 10 largest cities and 7 of the 8 largest counties went Obama. In Minnesota, the vote for national GOP candidates starts in the exurbs.

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Interesting. I know Hennepin went wildly blue, but haven't found any links that the cake-eaters also voted blue last time out.

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Here is the Map

Obama took 62% in Hennepin County, 66% in Ramsey County, 63% in St. Louis County and 50.37% in Dakota (to Mitts 47%). The only major county that went Red was Anoka where Mitt won 50.11% to 47%.

The map makes it seem that Minnesota is red until you realize Hennepin County accounts for 680k votes (which includes the burbs) out of just under 3 million cast. Throw in Ramsey County with 278k and that is why the Dems are safe here. As the Twin Cities go (mainly Minneapolis) so goes the state since 1/3 of the population lives here.

"Cake eater" is a real thing?

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Yeah, it's anyone from Edina by the strict definition.

I sometimes loosely apply it to anyone who is rich and from the southern suburbs. But generally it's anyone from Edina.

I wouldn't believe a Maureen Dowd column as I hear she's been hitting the cocktail circuit, with an emphasis on the cocktails, a bit too often for like the past two decades. Was she in the hospital with the Bidens or something?

Dems owe Biden a big, big thanks for crushing that weasel Paul Ryan in the VP debate, which was critical coming off of the egg that Obama laid in the first debate. Having said that, the man is going to be 74 I believe, he's now buried one wife and two kids, and survived a brain tumor. Might be time for him to start enjoying life and call it a day.

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Hillary's done if Biden gets in. Dowd (the liberal left of the NY Times) basically destroyed her this weekend in her column. No one's voting for Tom Brady and Hillary is Tom Brady. But, hey, she's a lock.

Sorry Scooby, but Flaggy just does this better than you... ;) You just don't come off as insane enough.

No matter your political leanings, no one comes off as insane as Flaggy.

Hillary's a good punching bag. The real danger lies in her associates, the ones who orchestrated Benghazi. If there is ANY sort of connection to information, something will happen.

So here's the town level map...hold the cursor over each town to see results. Colors are reversed and the red (D) areas largely represent where there's any population. Obama largely swept the significant suburbs. The two significant exceptions for Romney were Eden Prairie (48%/50) and Maple Grove (45/53)...but I'm sure both are strongly trending D. Beyond that, GOP land starts at Ham Lake, Lake Mtka, White Bear, and Farmington.

rotflmao. Eden Prairie trending D. That's funny.

LOL. OK, sure.

I love that you quote Dowd for truth, because she gets paid on the pundit tour to do the act you do here for free. :)

We've got Scoob impersonating Maureen Dowd, Fish impersonating David Brooks, Flag impersonating Alex Jones. All that's been missing is Old Pio's impersonation of Anne Coulter.

Now if you'll excuse me I've got my Jack Germond column to get to press. Copy boy!

Remember. She's a lock and no one from the clown car is electable. You heard it here first. I know I did.

She's a lock unless a cataclysmic revelation of something real comes out. Nothing so far is real.

Whoever emerges from the clown car has about a 40% chance of being elected.

Oh yeah. EP is diversifying very quickly. Eden Prairie has the 12th largest overall population...but excluding M&SP, it has the state's largest population of Somali.
