My tinfoil theory is he's a stalking horse to draw heat away from other candidates and muddy the waters for the media circus.

Occam's Razor would lead me to believe he just has an ego the size of Neptune.

Gore or Trump?

The industry term for what Coulter does is kayfabe. She learned there is an unlimited amount of herpa-derp wealth just waiting to be sucked up, as long as you can stand the stench. Coulter can, and it's made her incredibly rich.

Again with the professional wrestling metaphors. Yup, Coulter has gotten herself over as a heel and has made a killing.

You noticed that too? I think Kep's kayfabe-ing this whole effete lefty thing.

He probably drives a tricked out lifted Chevy Yukon rolling coal, with the Rebel battle flag on the rear side windows, to the pro "rasslin'" matches on the weekends.

Kep = (Ann Coulter)^(-1)

EDIT: Re-looking at my "math" there, I think Kep mentioned he's imagined Ann Coulter ... inverted. ;) :D

Well they DO share the same Alma Mater... (as Kepler goes to burn his diploma :p)

They should run this as an ad during the GOP debates.

Ann Coulter is to the political right-wing, what Tony Bourdain is to the food world. Puerile, self-assured, and New ****ing Yawker. Will publicly attack anyone, if they know it will sell books to the fanbase.

With that in mind, it's not a huge surprise that a vast contingent of detractors would admire her. She's a charming sociopath that would suck almost anyone into having a sangria with her.

Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

I admire Ann Coulter. I don't like her but I really admire her. Not only was she smart enough (maybe it doesn't require that much intellect, but whatever, that's not my point) and, more importantly, good enough to dupe millions out of their hard-earned cash. Even legitimately smart people.

I have no idea if she actually buys it. Maybe over time she's found it easier to say, but even if she despises herself, millions of dollars in annual income can buy a lot of therapy.

I do think she was raised and is conservative. I think her more over-the-top exclamations are a character that makes her a lot of money.

Ann Coulter - Troll Level: Expert

Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

Expert may not even cover it. She's operating at a higher level than than almost everyone.

*sigh*. She's at least four or five standard deviations above the average when it comes to trolling. (I've now embarrassed myself)

Even a majority of Freepers loathe her sucking up to the gays, and consider her an act, if that gives you any validation. :p

Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

So I know we're all concentrated on the Presidential race but I'd like to point out Alaska's 2016 Senate race.

Lisa Murkowski (R) is the incumbent. You might remember her winning on a write-in campaign back in 2010. She's a fairly Moderate Republican, pro-choice especially, which is what helped her get elected. Catch is, she's spent the last two years going hard right in an effort to avoid getting beat in the primary again. Problem is, everybody on the hard right still hates her and she's now alienated a good chunk of leftish support she had.

So where does that leave this race? First off, somebody in the Tea Party/Palin faction is going to run, probably Joe Miller again, outside chance of Palin herself. And there's a good chance that even if that person loses the primary, they'll run independent or write-in.

The major question is who the Dems run? Only one I see is Mark Begich, he's the only major name left available but he's been really quiet the last year since losing.

I know we've got a good 10-12 months before anything major, but keep an eye on up here because this could be really entertaining.

Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

I can't believe Palin would run. Being a Senator is work and she's probably still got a few years of grifting the Fox audience left in her.

Monica Lewinsky has said she can't endorse Hilary for President because last time a Clinton was in office it left a bad taste in her mouth.

Not bad. Not bad...:D

But putting that aside, Trump RULES! First he calls out professional GOP grifter Frank Luntz as a low class slob who was begging him for a job, complete with e-mails to prove it. Then he calls out every other candidate for jumping like trained poodles when the Koch brothers told everybody to come down to their palace to kowtow down to them. Now he's blasting the whole Super PAC structure and targeting Jebbers! over the ridiculous notion that these things are operating independently and that their donors aren't expecting something in return...

Gee, small wonder the guy's leading the Republican race.

EDIT: Here's more! From Esquire....

"On Fiorina:

"I promised I wouldn't say that she ran Hewlett Packard into the ground," Trump said. "I said I would not say it. That her stock value tanked. That she laid off tens of thousands of people and she got viciously fired. I said I would not say it. And that she then went out and ran against Barbara Boxer for senator of California, and it's a race that should have been won and she lost in a landslide, and I said, I will not say that, ok? So I'm not going to say it."
On poor, gasping Rand Paul:

Rand Paul -- you have to understand -- is a disaster in the polls. He's a disaster on military and defense. He is getting decimated by everybody. And other than giving him a lot of money for an eye center at his request -- he asked me, could I have money? I said, absolutely. Because I thought it was worthwhile. But I gave him a lot of money for an eye center, which is very hypocritical when you think of it. But other than giving him a tremendous amount of money for his eye center, which I'm happy about, frankly, because I'm sure they do good work, I hope they do good work, he is doing so badly that he figures he has to attack Trump because I'm leading by a lot everywhere.

On, well, everybody else:

You know, I don't blame him. He is doing so poorly in the polls so he attacks the person -- you know, hey, look, I've been attack now by Perry of Texas. And he went peeing like a rocket ship except in the wrong direction. I was attacked by Lindsey Graham. And he had two points. Now he has zero. Now, Rand Paul has very few points. But I think he's going down, too."
