Random note: TIL that if you are lucky enough to have a pension, your SS is cut accordingly. I honestly thought people got both

my dad has a good civil servant pension which is how I found out

Most pensions do not do this. My understanding is this generally only happens if your pension involves you not paying FICA taxes.

Last I saw, the bottom quartile has outpaced inflation since 2019 through the last quarter of data.

edit: I'm trying to find it. It was either from Ryan Radia or Matt Darling on twitter
Review what products/sectors are kept out of the CPI basket. Housing is one of them.

Weird. My dad is on usps pension

I am not sure the reasoning on why it happens from a plan standpoint, but seems it was more common previously. For example, I have both a state and federal pension and pay full FICA tax, so these will not reduce my SS benefit. However, the prior federal healthcare pension program would reduce SS benefits.

Sounds like the SAG strike is all but done. My guess is the studios caved hard!

I was being a little sarcastic. Someone last week made fun of my Apple Watch saying it was for old people. Well ya I’m old! It works for me and I like it . The people who can’t stop talking about apple are always android people.

Haven’t owned any android devices in nearly 10 years, and the user interfaces had already converged at that point.

Tentative agreement announced between GM and the UAW. And from the details listed, the UAW won.

Again, for those who are struggling at work, become or join a Union. They have power to give you better compensation. And end the laws that allow companies to break up unions.

The second Chrysler caved GM was grabbing the lube and getting ready to take it! Awesome!

In the just released S2 E1 of The Gilded Age, industry tycoons meet to discuss how to crush budding union enrollment and that they have to agree to reject all demands in order to remain strong and preserve their dominance. Some of the quotes such as, "Next they'll demand an 8-hour work day" are extremely timely.
