Wouldn't be buying all that MAGA swag, and putting money in Donnie's pocket.

Was it Jordan Klepper on the Daily Show, interviewing Donnie's cult members in NH? Guy complaining about how tough it was getting by these days, and then telling him he owned 48 red MAGA hats. Said he'd probably spent a few grand on MAGA cult ****.

Yes. Klepper is a genius.

Removing buttons and knobs? Ick.

I can’t wait til this trend gets old

if we can’t drive while looking at phones, quit putting goddamn iPads in the console
We can expect to see some more vehicles with manual controls, the toughest part will be manufacturers striking that balance. Things like digital speedometers, tachometers, and such are likely here to stay, but environmental controls are far better as knobs.

No, actually there is a who lot of people that are willing to be swayed, but they are financially barely cutting it. And the last 12 months have been brutal for them. They still have Paycheck $ (X) but now their food/bills are $ (X+1).

For people on the lower end of the spectrum, they got their COVID raises in 2020/21 and their wages stopped going up in 22/23. Inflation/greed has put those people back into financial struggle. Sure, the top half of the income spectrum is doing fine, but the lower tiers are getting squeezed out of existence. 20% raises don't do much good when Rent/Food/bills are now up 30%.

Last I saw, the bottom quartile has outpaced inflation since 2019 through the last quarter of data.

edit: I'm trying to find it. It was either from Ryan Radia or Matt Darling on twitter

If there's one trend that needs to die a swift death it's the replacement of physical HVAC and radio controls with the touchscreen integration. It all started because of Tesla, and I'm hoping Musk being batsh*t insane helps fast track the end of it.

Not Tesla - Steve F’n Jobs.

”Hey guys - to make the design more beautiful, I finally figured out how to make an iPod with only one button!”

”uhhh - won’t that make it hard to use?”

”Not at all - see, to change songs, you click once. To go back, click twice. Volume up - hold for 0.83 seconds. Volume down - hold for 1.07 seconds. Two short clicks and one long click to add bass. Three long clicks to add treble…..”

I mean, a phone is significantly better with a touchscreen. A car is not. Last I checked, apple hasn't made a car yet. ;-)

Oh but one has to get in a chance to rip apple.

Apple has many flaws. But design is only sometimes one of them. It's incredible how they make seemingly bad decisions that just become normal and expected. LIke giving up fingerprint readers. I miss it, but not enough to justify a smaller screen.

I was being a little sarcastic. Someone last week made fun of my Apple Watch saying it was for old people. Well ya I’m old! It works for me and I like it . The people who can’t stop talking about apple are always android people.

Really? I didn't get the memo from AARP. Other than being able to run w/o a phone, I don't see a reason to get an apple watch.

And I am retired.

I have been pleasantly surprised by how useful my Apple Watch is. I got mine originally because I wanted a smartwatch for soccer reffing (in which it is extremely useful) but have learned to love a lot of the other functions, especially quick replies to texts.

Random note: TIL that if you are lucky enough to have a pension, your SS is cut accordingly. I honestly thought people got both

my dad has a good civil servant pension which is how I found out

I know, I was trying to play on that but didn't make it obvious.

Who is saying Apple Watch is for olds? What are the kids using now?
I really like my apple watch. Better than getting my phone out every time I get a text or notification. Keeps me off my phone, which is good. I'd rather quietly glance at the screen to see if it's urgent and get back to whatever I was doing. I wish it was a hair less clunky when it comes to Siri and home control. But otherwise it's better than the fitbits I had that would die after 12 months. I still use my fitbit with a non-functional screen for when I play soccer. Better to let that get damaged than the Apple Watch.

I do like the features the watch has for older folks. My mom has balance issues so we got her an SE for christmas a few years back and setup fall detection. For the cost of like three months of life alert, we're covered and she gets a functional watch.

It would have been an absolute gamechanger back in my reffing days.

I honestly wonder how I survived without it! It’s nice to have it even if I’m just keeping score so I have a digital record for entering scores post game.

It’s really useful when I’m reffing a UPSL and I can use it to it’s (mostly) full functionality. Record goal scorers, track subs, record cards, track stoppage time and then be able to pull up all that info for the post game report.

Apple watches aren't for old people...Apple Phones are ;^)

I almost bought an Apple watch a few years back but it is not compatible with my phone. Galaxy watches work for what I need.

As always it's about preference if it works who cares.

I had an Apple Watch and loved it, but one day it randomly called 911 and I’ve never used it since. The most irritating part was apple acted like it was no big deal. Luckily it was during the middle of the day and I realized it but what if it happened in the middle of the night? The last thing I need is for the cops to show up and start shooting at me and my family.
