It's more evidence that IT/IS (i.e. the cell phone) has destroyed Planet Earth.

That's an odd take. The cell phone has done nothing of the sort. SaaS predates smartphones and is more closely tied to the internet's coming of age. All of this was bound to happen when we started to communicate more rapidly and efficiently.

Without cell phones we wouldn't have exposed how shitty cops were and started to make changes. Just as a single example.

They've helped expose how shitty this world is. They haven't caused it to get any more shitty. Social media OTOH...

Social Media is just an extension of the cell phone. The Cell Phone is at the core of everything that has destroyed the planet. The Regulation State has not kept up with the technologies. And governments (ours especially) refuse to protect their citizens. Instead they buy into the Republicans BS about Deep State being bad and Deregulation being good.

I am probably the worst culprit of all. My screentime from my job, to my home life is off the charts. But, I'm never bored so I got that going for me.

I'm actually curious if this is geographical. Up in the cold climates, I can definitely see the instinct to grab a blanket and watch some TV during the winter. If you live in, say San Diego, is that impulse still there?

I hate that streaming is the deal now.

Collecting all the Hitchcock movies and having some of them be hard to find was part of the fun. Now you just find the stream for it.

However, the SyFy Dune series is not available on any streaming service so I had to buy that recently. That's a summer project after I finish reading book 3.

You shut your dirty mouth. Don't breathe life into this abomination.
Ha, you act like this is some new thing. Companies in other industries like video games have been doing this for over a decade. The only difference is the car companies have figured out how to implement this.

Welcome to the crossroads of hypercapitalism and an aged ruling class with zero understanding being completely bought out.

And frankly, the government should step in. This kind of nonsense is just extra weight and extra GHGs that are getting created. It's anti-consumer and wasteful. If I don't want something on my car, I shouldn't pay to carry it around unused.

If the manufacturer can monkey around with the horsepower remotely I wonder what a hacker could do? I wish I could buy a brand new version of my 10 year old car.

Yep. We probably, actually, can blame Jobs and Gates for everything. Works for me. Although a Governmental regulation structure that is completely out to lunch has a lot to do with it. They allowed those monopolies to thrive.

The Lochnerians are at the gates.

These photos show children working in a Nebraska slaughterhouse – their faces are obscured. The Labor Department found more than 100 children were working in dangerous conditions, some reporting chemical burns.

I hate the Right so much.

Elmo also called dems hypocritical because they didn’t protest when kids were shot at the Christian school.

um, we did and it lead to two black men being expelled in TN….
