We need to just get to a point where we are breaking even first. It would be nice to get to a point where we are cutting ahead but that isn’t feasible any time soon. This is an opening for Biden to push higher taxes but he isn’t taking it because of the political ramifications.

Going to be a tough day when the market backs away from buying our debt. It obviously isn’t going to happen in the immediate term but if we don’t get off the path we are on the day is coming.

Biden and Democrats in Congress did raise taxes through their reconciliation bill. Sinema vetoed any larger ones. The Republicans are the problem, per usual, when it comes to raising taxes. Biden has proposed increasing taxes again. Doesn’t take too much searching to find his proposal. I’m sure Susan Collins, “proud” voter of Trump’s 2017 reconciliation tax-cutting bill, will be on board with Biden’s proposals, along with the GOP House.

We need higher taxes and less spending but it folks refuse to accept it. We can’t run a trillion dollar deficit every year forever. Reality will set it at some point and it is not going to be fun.

Says the doosh who whined about Biden's budget. Some people are cutting spending. Why don't you talk to the people who won't even consider raising taxes.

Like your little booh Susie.

Bill Clinton did it. What'd you think of him?

Seriously? First of all, "moral decay" is utter bullshit. But let's game this out a bit.

Bill Clinton started it? The guy from a scant 30 years ago? Not JFK, who was banging Marilyn Monroe in the oval office. Not Thomas Jefferson, who was impregnating slaves. Not Abraham Lincoln, who may or may not have been fucking everything and everyone. But Bill Clinton.

Dude. Come on.

Interesting take. A lot of people are going to suffer and it's not the billionaire's.

If we don't raise the debt ceiling, we're all f-cked, including the billionaires. The last time Biden negotiated with Republicans over the debt ceiling, we had those awful sequestration cuts 10 years ago. He won't make the same mistake his boss made. Clean debt ceiling increase only. Republicans can go f-ck themselves. The budget is a different story. I don't doubt he'll have to make concessions there, since the GOP holds the House.

Not Ronnie Raygun who cut a deal with Iranian hostage takers so he could become president? Who then traded military weapons to get them freed? Who was it, Wilbur Mills, fishing strippers out of the DC basin? Not Gerry Ford giving Nixon a pardon? Not even Nixon and all he did? J. Edgar Hoover? Titans of industry since the dawn of the industrial age banging their secretaries? FBI in bed with the mob?

God, your understanding of society and politics has such a blind spot. No wonder you think Susie is a model statesman.

Bluesky is going to be the coup de grace.

it's Twitter without Elmo.

An interesting bit I read is that Bluesky accidentally stumbled upon a way to passively track hate speech: the invitation tree.

Because it's currently in invite only mode, they can look back and follow the invite chain to see who the *sshole is, who invited the *sshole, and how far along the chain *ssholes have spread.

Oh good. I get the specter of layoffs hanging over our head until the end of May. fan fuckin tastic. Our dept is going to probably lose 15%.

Not to defend Clinton, who was a rapist and sexual predator. But Jesus Tapdancing Christ already.

And frankly, the government should step in. This kind of nonsense is just extra weight and extra GHGs that are getting created. It's anti-consumer and wasteful. If I don't want something on my car, I shouldn't pay to carry it around unused.
