Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

won 3-2 in OT.

All scores are posted on Collegehockeystats.net, so you don't have to go crazy waiting for scores anymore. ;) :D

Most of us already knew that.. I guess someone (haha) didn't!

It was a nice surprise to come home from the men's game where if they win, we usually get the game score and when they don't give the score it's usually assumed they lost... Overtime was probably just about starting when they gave the 'around the league' scores this year.

Yet another reason why I question why I signed up to post on this forum. It's clearly a cool-kids club where if you are new you will hear about it from all angles.

I can't be a bulldogs fan because we suck because we don't have locals, we have "Foreigners", and oh-god Shannon Miller is the devil and this and that.

Oh, and you don't know about this website and that website? What kind of hockey fan do you claim to be?

Just keep talking to yourselves, people. It will get you places.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Gah! Does *anybody* have any updates on tonight's game? I'm dying for some info here.......

Another option is the "Live Stats" function on the host team's website...either during or after the game...it's free and is an alternative to paying for the Live Video feed through either B2Live TV (for those schools that subscribe to this service) or through the host team's in house Live Video service (if they don't subscribe to B2Live TV).

I just checked OSU's website...women's hockey...you can view replays of last night's goals...it's a little on the dark side but you can still make it out well enough.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Thanks, Blackbeard. I knew about some of the video streaming but was traveling and only had the blackberry with me.

Looks like the Dogs got a sweep with a 5-3 tonight!! What a great thing to come back after a long time on the road with a sweep under their belt.

Can't wait for this next weekend!

If you've been reading a while as you said, links to box scores have been posted a lot over the years so I figured you actually would have known where the link(s) we post.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Saara Tuominen has a 3 game goal-scoring streak, and at least an assist in 6 games now. Her importance is so obvious on this team that is lacking the type of "muscle" that the players gone for this season bring.

Gina Dodge finally got her first point, an assist tonight against OSU, and Vanessa Thibault has found her 'A' game, scoring two tonight, to continue making an impact.

Interesting that with the Lick brothers, there were only 2 powerplays each...

OSU put 43 shots on Harss with another 90% or better night for her.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

While following the Goalie Mask thread.. I just remembered.. you'll see a new look against Mankato.. Jenny Harss has a painted helmet now.. not sure if she had it at Mercyhurst but she hasn't worn it for a home game yet, she still has the plain unpainted helmet through the North Dakota series

http://www.viewthroughmylens.net/Galleries/UMDWomensHockey/AtSCSU1/UMDWomenAtSCSU13.jpg if ya missed the picture with the helmet from the St. Cloud series LAST weekend.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Kinda quiet on the Bulldog front...even after sweeping Ohio! I will assume things will pick up this weekend as they return home for a series against Mankato......

What player/players are we choosing to watch this weekend??

Oh and way to go Posa!!!! Congrats

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Yep.. Mariia Posa rookie of the week! The Bulldog awards keep coming as the team improves.

I would have to say this.. as far as watching players.. watch the Freshmen.. they've been away for 3 straight weekends now.. after watching them in St. Cloud, many are starting to find themselves and have a real identity on the team. I think Gina Dodge especially, after playing with the first line some, getting even more important faceoffs, is ready to break out and even get a goal against Mankato.

Cournoyer is playing much better now also, instead of just flying all over the ice like she did the first month of the season, she knows her role, especially killing penalties.

Emmanuelle Blais hit the 100 pt mark (amazingly, 50 goals 50 assists!) at Ohio State, and Friddy is 5 points FROM the 100 pt mark, which may come in Boston unless she has a huge weekend against Mankato. Friddy has 49-46, so goal number 50 could come Saturday night.

As mentioned before, Saturday night's game (6 pm!) is the 10 year celebration of UMD women's hockey...

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

This weekend it's 6:00 on Saturday and 3:00 on Sunday, right?

And, as for players to follow. I think tracking a couple of freshman is a good idea and why not go with two of the current "hot" players -

Mariia Posa - D
Audrey Cournoyer - F

From the outset I've been impressed with Posa's shot and with Corny's speed . . . not having seen either of them in nearly a month it should be fun to see the improvements/changes. Of course, we can discuss other options too . . . it really doesn't matter to me.

Kudos to the OSU sweep . . . it's nice to have our captain back!!

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Yep it's a Saturday night/Sunday afternoon series 6pm/3pm because of the Christmas City parade and the DECC construction together causing parking problems.

I had actually typed to suggest Posa and Cournoyer but then remembered that Thibault has picked up her game, and Dodge finally got a point (even if it was an assist,) so it was harder to pick just 2.

I was going to head south on Friday night to watch the CEC girls play Benilde St. Margaret but changed my mind and will be watching the Duluth girls play Stillwater at Heritage, since the CEC girls are playing them Saturday afternoon it'll be an early season comparison of the two teams against a common opponent.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

So, I think for that special look over for this weekend we've got Mariia Posa for D but a few options for F - each of these gals seems to have stepped up their D-1 games recently:

Cournoyer
Dodge
Thibault

Anyone have a preference??

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Just received word that the 10 year celebration will include a banner and 22 or so alum will be in town for the event as well!

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Okay . . . well let's do Posa and Thibault. (For those that may not know what this is about . . . At the beginning of the season some of we regular posters on the UMD thread thought it might be interesting to pick a couple of players to pay a little more attention to when we watch the home games. Then, we can more intelligently discuss them afterward or at least try to.)

It should be fun to see which alum come for the celebration.

Go DOGS . . . sweep . . . .

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

I haven't looked yet but I hope the News-Tribune does some sort of piece for the 10 year celebration.. there was good attendance for the Mankato series last season with the Friday game actually breaking 1000, and that only happens against the the Gophers and Badgers, so hopefully there's a good turnout for Saturday night!
