BU Recruiting Update--Part 5

Per Mike McMahon

I’m told that BU is the favorite to land Owen McLaughlin.
McLaughlin was second on UND in scoring (only behind Boisvert) with 30 points (5g-25a) in 38 games. A seventh-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, McLaughlin had 39 points (13g-26a) in 2023-24.
McLaughlin is one of the best play drivers in the portal.

McLaughlin is a 6'0" left wing, will be a senior.

Yeah. Seeing is believing.

These guys seem to be hitting the portal for NIL money, which means they have agents/advisors etc. Leaks, rumors, etc. are all tools of trade to get other possible schools to up their offers.

As someone who follows European club soccer as well, you get used to filtering out the rumor mill. The NIL makes the transfer process an entirely different beast than the ye olde "I want more playing time" or "I'm unhappy about my devleopment here" transferring.

New NDU head coach is probably a factor as well.

Could be. Depends on what sort of talk he rolled in with. But the change of coach is probably more just a "well if I were ever gonna jump ships...nows the time"

I haven't seen anything official other than tweets with rumors that all of have seen so I'm not going to believe this till I see confirmation. If you know something that the rest of us don't, please share.

College Hockey News is reporting that he has committed to BU and College Hockey Insider's Portal Tracker shows him committed, too.
More info about Boisvert, including a piece in The Athletic about his background in boxing and taekwondo.
