Rogie - did you hear anything about the team awards from this past season? Since there was no banquet in the spring, I thought they may announce something in a press release. Which I somehow may have missed, but I don't think I did.

Here you go, Scarlet. https://terrierhockey.blogspot.com/2023/05/mccarthy-to-captain-2023-24-terriers.html

Yet another honor for Lane Hutson. His OT game-winner in the conference championship game won the fan vote competition for Hockey East Play of the Year.

Saw that Jamie Armstrong is going to BC for his final season. Any insight as to what he could do for BC? Perhaps the last spot on the third line? Seems to have good size with few penalties and did have 5G 8A last year.

He was a 4th liner that many BU fans were hoping would be invited back for a 5th year. Really came into his own last year - very smart, reliable. Not flashy but did contribute on the scoresheet as you noted. He could certainly play on a 3rd line, but I would imagine on a team with the talent level of BC, he would likely be a 4th liner (I'll admit to not knowing much about what you a have after your top couple guys last year plus your big 3 coming in).

Given recruited players who had verbally committed, combined with players granted an extra year of eligibility due to the pandemic, the coaching staff had many decisions to make in terms of how to best shape the BU roster for 2023-24 and beyond. I think while there was much merit to bringing back some players for a 5th year (for both sentimental as well as productivity reasons), it had to be under the right circumstances in terms of current/future roster needs, plus scholarship availability.

Completely random question that I am hoping someone here might have some insight into… I was scrolling the Danbury Trashers roster on hockeydb and noticed that Bob Lachance played 1 game for them in ‘04, got a 10-minute penalty and then disappeared from hockey for 7 years. Anybody know the story on why he only played one game and why he randomly came back 7 years later?

Can't explain the Bob Lachance mystery but the Netflix film about the Transhers: "Untold: Crime & Penalties"--about a mobster-owned franchise, gifted to his 17 year-old son--is a fun-to-watch documentary. Several other NCAA players show up in the doc. https://www.netflix.com/title/81026438

I love that documentary and definitely worth the watch for anyone who hasn’t seen it. I met someone at a party who told me he “played” for them and that led me to check the roster for his stats and stumble on Bob’s name.

The question was asked about why allow World Juniors participation given the chance of injury. I think elite players want to play in that and if a school didn't allow it they wouldn't get that (elite) player. He'd go to another school. Does that make sense?

BU has always allowed its players to participate in the World Juniors. Patrick Harper is the only one I recall being injured there and the injury led to a chest ailment. He missed the rest of his sophomore season and under-performed the next season. Then rebounded as a senior.

I’d like to get tickets for the 10/20 & 10/21 ND away games. Does BU sell tickets to the away games? I’d like to sit with other BU fans.

Hockey East Coaches Poll: 1. BU (9 first-place votes), 2. BC (2), 3. Merrimack 4. Northeastern

Well, most people in the league think we’re good and didn’t lose much of a step from last year, huh? I guess I’m not surprised with what we have coming in with a solid core returning. Hope that stands by the end of the year. Looking forward to it! Nice to be well respected again for sure.
