How far do they drop?
for those of you that watched, how legit was that penalty on Stevens at the start of the third? Couldn’t tell from the replays. What I saw from them didn’t seem like a penalty but what do I know?
I feel like these don’t realize how pumped others teams are to play the #1 ranked team. They were not ready, and that’s on the coaching staff.

BU played this game like they were up 29-0. That’s the #1 thing they need to fix.
I didn’t make it to the third (I was at the theater so I watched on DVR when I got home) but there were two terrible calls in the 1st and 2nd (one for each side.).
Who cares how far they drop? Take them out of the poll completely. I don’t give a fuck about polls. Just compete and figure out how to play as a team and win hockey games.

Does any team really want to be ranked #1 in a poll? It just adds pressure on your team and "motivation" to the other team.
Pandolfo's identity in NHL was a 3rd line defensive forward on a team known for defense. Does he view the game differently now? Most nights you guys will outscore the opponent. He's going back to fire wagon hockey from his college days. I wish more coaches allowed for that freedom. Too many coaches care only about their "structure" and preventing the other team from scoring.
Finally, Tuch's goal should have stood.

The team just learned that 1) when you are #1 you are going to get the other teams' best, especially in their barn and 2) you have to earn it. The defensive zone play was absolutely atrocious. How may time did we just hand it to them. M. Celebrini is a skilled stud but is showing his youth and lack of having played against college teams the way the US U18 team does - two giveaways creating breakaways in two games.
On the positive side, Willander looks like a first round pick that he is, and Aidan Celebrini looked very good compared to the Bentley game
I have no idea what was going on with Gallagher and McCarthy. Case was moving so slowly I hope he isn't nicked. Gallagher played like it was his first game in D-1. Unfortunately, Gavin McCarthy also looks like he needs a lot of work before he will be back int he lineup.
I am confident in the coaching staff getting this figured out. Maybe Jay dresses all the regulars tonight as a message that "we have some serious work to do"?

Duplesis left BU because QU plays spectacular team defense. Whatever goalie plays there is going to put up inflated stats which improves his chances of going pro. BU barely plays defense and gives up tons of quality scoring chances.
I was thinking the same thing last night.
But again, the BU “defense” gift wrapped multiple goals last night. At least 4 of the 5 I saw.
If I'm reading correctly, that was our first loss against UNH since 2/14/15. That must suck for UNH fans.
Also found it interesting that pregame, Jay said they focused in practice on the breakout, playing faster, and the power play. Nothing about the defense, beyond tightening up in general. Gonna have to be a different focus this week.

I guess we need to rethink our “run and gun” system.

You might be right.
There's no shame in losing to the US team but down 6-0 in the 2nd period suggests something is at leas temporarily amiss.
