BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Coincidentally, I just received and watch VHS tape of the BU-produced 1993 season highlight film, narrated by Doug Brown. Daughtery sure threw a slew of long TD passes that season. He had a strong crew of receivers. Equally amazing was seeing the grandstand at Nickerson filled for many of the games.

I was at the N.Iowa game, which made Sunday's Pats-Giants game seem tame. The overtime was positively surreal. On the Sports Illustrated Vault site, there are a series of about five video clips comprising of the game. Probably the SportsChannel coverage.

My recollection of the end of that game, from the stands, was that BU had gotten pushed back and was attempting a very long field goal, the kick was blocked and the game seemed over...the kicker picked up the ball and ran (had to be back by the 50 at this point) got face masked, which was a 15 yard plus auto first down. So, NI went from running on the field in victory to arguing with the refs to watching BU score the winning TD. Not sure I want to see the clips as they probably refute my account.

that is my version of the end and I'm sticking to it.

The equal and opposite? The UNH game the next year(?) where our kicker missed the first PAT of his career when it got blocked, the UNH fans stormed the field as the ball rolled around, one of our players picked it up and ran into the end zone for what would have been the winning points but there were 100 people running on the field and the refs couldn't tell what happened. Again, some might recall that differently, but that is how I saw it.

i used to enjoy reading the BU thread but this is ridiculous................y'all have enough great posters that love college hockey but a few that like to bring up this crap and talk about a dead gambling issue and the religion thing which combined has successfully desecrated the thread..............move on to maybe sunday's game???????

I agree. It's like 'chicken little, chicken little. The sky is falling down."

Just chill baby. BU has an awesome team and super coaching.

I'm a Black Bear fan and we have fairweather fans too. They think they know everything and blame everyone. Who cares!
It's college hockey. relax and enjoy.
Be happy you have a team that you can watch play.

BU is a great school with a great hockey program.

Hey if you beat BC these same yahoos will flip flop and talk about how great BU hockey is.

Good Luck the rest of the season.
Enjoy the ride. It's a lot of fun!

There was a face mask on Mike Morello that gave BU a fist down and new life in that game. The following year there was a PAT blocked and recovered by BU.
It looked like it was run in for the win but about 1000 UNH fans were already in the end zone. Yeah...I saw it that way as well. Anybody have the link to the SI footage of that game?

Just found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8TwI9IvJtA

Who knew?

...BC had a coach banging his players 4 years ago.

Fredo was banging cocktail waitresses 2 at a time which really annoyed Moe Greene. Ultimately, all the banging came back to haunt the BC coach, Moe Greene and Fredo. Food for thought.

Close. Except that N.Iowa had already blown its 2nd OT opportunity, missing a FG attempt. So w/o the facemask call (against NI's best defensive player), it would have gone to a 3rd OT. After the penalty, it took Burwell two shots to barrell into the endzone and yes, the hockey team was out there watching and cheering.

Am I the only one that finds it humorous that a BC fan is complaining that he likes to read the BU thread, but right now because there are so many BC posters in it too many of the topics are BC related?

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

BU will beat BC. BU has tons of talent and excellent coaching. BU will rise to the occassion when the two meet.

No.

Umm I think you most certainly read that wrong. That's quite the loose interpretation though.

Just curious, but what does BC have?

i have made no secret that i enjoy this thread because it's interesting and there are a lot of knowledgeable BU hockey fans on here and also that i wish our thread was as lively. So, i have no clue how you think this is a complaint about the thread itself only about those that ruin it.............and i bet a lot of BU fans are sick of the religion crap as well

and Scarlet, surely you know better. you've read enough of my posts

I'm sick of all of the name-calling...can we just give it a rest, please? Rover, I'm betting (hoping) that if you stop instigating J.D. that he'll tone it down as well. You don't HAVE to get the last word...be bigger than that! "The posters are ready, so......let's talk hockey!" :)

As I've said, my whole role in this hasn't been to staunchly defend everything BC or extoll virtues of bad people. All I've done is defended against propaganda and false allegations.

No problems here. Just doing it for my own amusement. I think JD might be that Westfield St grad with a degree in typewriter repair or something, so perhaps its not worth the time to argue BU-BC with him. ;)

But yes, lets get back to a BU hockey discussion.
