BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I think two came on one kill against DU. While it's entirely possible BU can win, there is really nothing you guys can point to and say here's why (at the moment).

Parker has the refs under his command, duh. Might as well mark down the BU win right now... but seriously they always come out for BC and if they lose it isn't for a lack of effort. If you judge it on the past, this team will come out flying for both games since both teams are ranked(9-3 goal advantage against ranked teams on the year) but obviously if they win Friday night then they will have to prove that they are capable of playing two solid games over the course of a weekend.

Usually, this is right. However last Decembers series with bc they came out flatter than a board and got pulvarized, and never recovered from it for the rest of the season. The same can happen in both games this weekend very easily.

This IS a make or break weekend IMHO.

The real problem(s) with this team is that their PP stinks as it always does AND their PK is horrible. UMASS, PC, Lowell, and HC seemed like they were scoring at will on the PP. If the Terriers get into penalty trouble against either of these teams then we might be looking at scores in the 7-1 range again.

If BU manages to score first and come out and play hard then they could be OK.

Hopefully they care 1/2 as much as we do...

Guys...there IS a nationally televised game between two old rivals this Sunday? Any thoughts there????

Does BU get steamrolled or "get up" for the BC game?

Do BC fans "fear" playing BU anymore? Why or why not?

Think BU will be silly enough to look ahead to Sunday or will they be ready for Merrimack?

That's usually what game threads are for. :)

Speaking of....what time IS the game? Did we get that confirmed?

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

it would appear to be a not so thinly veiled shot at the catholic church. and probably an inference to say that BC was involved in the whole mess.

i am not catholic, so i could care less. what the church did was an absolute travesty. but i'm not sure what is more funny, the desperate attempt to paint all BC fans as catholic or the ignorant attempt to paint every BU fan as not.

Ironic he mentioned close to home considering Jerry Sandusky was an assistant coach at BU in 1968. Rover would have a field day if Sandusky was ever an assistant at BC.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

From the Freep:

BU coach Jack Parker said he is troubled by the team’s continuing struggles with a man-advantage and was the first to take the blame for the lack of production.

“If we’re not better on the power play, it will be my fault because we have enough talent to make that work,” Parker said.

Something for those that say Parker always passes blame to others.

Ha, "those"? Try everyone. Kudos to Jack for finally taking some responsibility via the press. Long overdue.

I just fell off my chair.

Bernie did NOT call the game Saturday. Conflict with Harvard football?

If he committed a crime while at BU send him up. More relevant would be BC's former women's hockey coach giving out playing time depending on which players were willing to bang him.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Mutch is a lowlife, but of course you would take the texting allegations and make a comment about who he was "banging".

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Ahhh BU football. I do miss Saturdays at Nickerson. I was an undergrad for the Robert Daughtery era.

Those teams were good. Too bad it's gone.

This guy was an assistant under the late Dan Allen...

Nothing to brag about but BC doesn't have the only ex-coach as an NFL head coach.

Just sayin'.

1. Glad to see Parker finally say "My fault". Again, it is never entirely his fault at a point in time, but when the problem persists over time, then it does become his.

2. I think I know why the confusion over Bernie. I think he called the game after the first period only. I heard the first 10 minutes, and whoever started the broadcast indicated that they would only be there for the first period. I then thought I heard Bernie later on when I checked in (very poor reception) between the 2nd and 3rd period. (Once I heard "5 goal deficit" I changed stations).

3. I think BU will look poor against Merrimack, and look really good against BC. How that translates into Ws and Ls is anybody's guess. BC looks like they can still beat us when we are on our game, if they are on theirs.

Those two years were incredible (winning 35-0 after the first quarter of the first Dougherty game). Unfortunately, they were sandwiched by many, many 3, 4, and 5 win campaigns.

Great memory. That entire team was loaded. Beat the Kurt Warner led N Iowa at Nickerson in 2 OT.

If I remember correctly Coach Parker pulled the hockey team off the ice and they were standing in the end zone (in pads) and mobbed Zach Burwell when he scored the winning TD.

Good times. Let's get back there.

I'd love a copy of that game. It has to exist somewhere. The game was on SportsChannel New England.

Ignoring your unsubstantiated claim, Stack was the best player in women's hockey history. Suffice to say she earned her playing time regardless of her personal relationship with the coach. But if that is how you need to rationalize sanduskys pedophilia, more power to you.

It's humorous that you won't assume Sandusky was always a pedophile, but have no problems going past the known facts as it relates to Mutch. You sound the like sox fans who truly believe manny didn't take steroids until after he left Boston

Yes and I'm sure that was the only player he was banging, much like the rampant gambling scandal was really limited to only 4 players. Tell me, has there even been another school in recent memory where the coach was tagging the players? Yikes. Show me an incident of this Penn St guy at BU in 1968. We know of an incident at BC with Mutch only a few short years ago, yet another embarassment for the school.

While both are extremely wrong, pedophilia and engaging in sexual behavior with MINORS is a lot worse than a coach banging an ADULT. Yes. I went to law school. I know all the sexual harassment criteria. That player was his underling so any sexual conduct could be viewed as sexual harassment. However, I think 95% of the world would look much more poorly on the dimwit who ruined MINORS' lives.

Ummm...agreed but it kinda misses the point. BC had a coach banging his players 4 years ago. Penn St had a pedophile on staff and still accessing campus facilities last week. BU had.....what again? No offense, but you're answering a question that nobody's asking.

Coincidentally, I just received and watch VHS tape of the BU-produced 1993 season highlight film, narrated by Doug Brown. Daughtery sure threw a slew of long TD passes that season. He had a strong crew of receivers. Equally amazing was seeing the grandstand at Nickerson filled for many of the games.

I was at the N.Iowa game, which made Sunday's Pats-Giants game seem tame. The overtime was positively surreal. On the Sports Illustrated Vault site, there are a series of about five video clips comprising of the game. Probably the SportsChannel coverage.

LOL, back to the gambling scandal. You really do need new material. But ya, you REALLY know who was involved in that. Furthermore, there is absolutely zero evidence to support there being a sexual relationship between Mutch and any player. I'll show you an incident with Sandusky at BU as soon as you show me the evidence that Mutch was involved sexually with Stack or anyone else. Deal? Here's a hint, you won't find anything. You are beyond pathetic.

No need to get into this. There was never any evidence of Mutch banging anyone.
